Abstract/Summary:
In the past decade we have witnessed an influx of corporate scandals, banking failures, and regulatory violations. This research is a culmination of three papers that focus on responsibility and accountability in Corporate America. As America continues to emerge from a recession, researchers are in a unique position to potentially contribute to the recovery process.;Paper one offers a retrospective analysis of the lessons learned in the twenty years since the Treasury scandal at Salomon Brothers and the role of corporate compliance programs in charging and sentencing decisions in cases of corporate deviance. The second paper discusses the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the Dodd-Frank Act of 2010 and the place research has in the development of legislative reforms. Paper three examines the dimensions of harm and victimization incurred by employees as a result of corporate fraud and mismanagement and begins to develop a foundation for developing an analytical framework with which to consider corporate victimization.
