| The rapid acceleration of global business has enabled most businesses to greatly expand their business base, however it has also resulted in many additional challenges. A particularly difficult challenge to stress is the need to understand and interact with different cultures during the conduct of business. The leadership attributes, behaviors, and skills which enable managers to effectively develop and market products in their home country may be completely ineffective in other countries around the globe. This study revolves around the perceived need to understand one aspect of this phenomenon, the need for business leaders to broaden specific competencies that relate to their leadership attributes, behaviors, and skills for operating in the global marketplace. The purpose of this qualitative case study was to identify the perceived need to create new or modify existing cultural attributes, behaviors, and skills at a large aerospace company. This is to ensure the impact of local culture is understood and developed to enable the leadership of an aerospace company operating in a global environment to gain additional business. The outcome of this study has postulated which cultural attributes, behaviors, and skills are salient in the development of new business in the global environment. |
