Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between teacher interview scores on the Interactive Computer Interview System and their student MAP test proficiency levels in grades 3 and 4 in the content areas of Communication Arts and Mathematics.;Forty third and fourth grade teachers were interviewed using the ICIS. Mean MAP proficiency percentages were determined for the same teachers for years 2004-2006. Results indicated significant correlations between Interactive Computer Interview Scores and 3 year mean MAP proficiency percentages at the .05 level. A moderate correlation (p=.017) was observed between the ICIS "Working With Others" sub-score and 3 year mean MAP proficiency percentages at the 0.05 level. Moderate to strong correlations existed when examining "Knowledge of Teaching" and "Knowledge of Students" subscores in relation to 3 year mean MAP proficiency percentages and the .01 level (p=.007 for "Knowledge of Teaching" and p<.001 for "Knowledge of Students"). Additionally, a moderate to strong correlation existed (.003) when examining the ICIS total weighted average scores and 3 year mean MAP proficiency percentages at the .01 level.
