Tightening the belt: The effects of budget cuts on higher education in South Carolina

Product degradation is the deterioration of a business commodity over time. The purpose of this study was to measure the perceptions of university faculty and administrators' concerning the recent budget cuts in South Carolina and their effects on the quality of the educational product at state-supported four-year institutions in South Carolina. This study will determine the extent of which these administrators perceive that state supported institutions of higher education have been unable to maintain the quality of education in this state and that problems receiving adequate funding from the state legislature may be a factor.
