| The purpose of this study was to articulate and formalize the model of adventure education espoused by Kurt Hahn, the "father" of adventure education. The study focused on personal, political, and philosophical influences on Hahn's ideas, the growth of organizations rooted in Hahn, and the actual model. The model is built around three constructs illustrated in the structure of the Parthenon---the overall goal (the roof structure), principles for the organization of school life (the foundation), and the methods/activities (the pillars) that apply the foundational principles in a context that helps reach the goals. |
