In numerous societies within the world today the lifespan is increasing, with more and more individuals living an extended life. A critical consequence of this general phenomenon is that the aging populations in these societies are becoming relatively larger. As memory researchers and cognitive psychologists, it is imperative to actively engage in understanding the memory problems of older individuals to assist in making the increasingly longer old age stages of life as comfortable and content as possible. In essence, more research into the memory mechanisms of older individuals is needed. |
