A comparative case study approach was used to investigate the emotional intelligence of three school administrators and their reactions to emotional intelligence coaching. The administrators were assessed before and after four months of coaching, using the Genos EI(TM) assessment tool, which gathered data from the administrators themselves, as well as from their superiors, peers, and direct reports. Five dimensions of emotional intelligence were assessed: recognizing and expressing emotions, understanding of emotions, making decisions, managing emotions, and controlling emotions. Data also included transcriptions of the coaching sessions plus individual and group interviews. The data revealed that school administrators grew in their emotional intelligence and believed that the coaching was beneficial to their work.
