Recent scientific literature documents the importance of physical activity and physical health for overall health, including mental health. This study surveyed pastors of American Protestant Christian churches to determine the extent of physical activity ministry and holistic teaching prevalent within U.S. Protestant churches. The findings highlight that ministry and teaching focused on the body and physical health was generally a neglected area of focus within the U.S. Protestant Christian churches surveyed. Factors that were correlated to holistic ministry in churches surveyed such as demographic variables, pastor education, pastor opinions and pastor personal physical health are analyzed and discussed. The study results suggest increased holistic teaching and ministry could benefit church members and society at large. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Protestant christian churches, Ministry, Holistic, Health | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
