The contribution of the corpus callosum in psychosocial and emotional functioning was examined through linguistic analysis of the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT; H. Murray, 1943/1971) protocols from individuals with primary agenesis of the corpus callosum (AgCC) and controls. Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count 2007 (LIWC2007; J. Pennebaker, C. Chung, M. Ireland, A. Gongalez, & R. Booth, 2007) replicate findings that individuals with AgCC demonstrate significant differences in syntax, and Social, Affective, and Cognitive Processes (A. Turk, W. S. Brown, M. Symington, & L. K. Paul, in press). LIWC results covary with scores on narrative humor comprehension, proverb comprehension, as well as literal and nonliteral language comprehension. Group differences in LIWC results derive from fundamental deficits not attributable to the covariates. |
