| Industrial agglomeration is an important driving force for regional economic growth from both practice and academic research,while the spatial pattern of industrial agglomeration is accompanied by the development of industrialization and urbanization.The characteristic towns that emerged in China in recent years are not the traditional towns of administrative units,but the new industrial organization forms under the development of post-industrialization,new-type urbanization and information integration.Being located between urban and rural areas,.the characteristic town realizes the concentration and development of characteristic industries in a small space of several square kilometers.By enhancing the density and openness of the enterprise network,creating dynamic space to enhance the knowledge spillover effect,realizing the fine division of labor and organizational optimization within the industrial cluster.It will form the growth pole of the region and form a unique working style and way of life through the inheritance of historical humanities and customs,and realize the ideal,livable and suitable for travel.Therefore,the characteristic town is a new carrier for rural revitalization in China,and it can accelerate the new space for farmers to urbanize on the spot.At the same time,economic geography studies show that the agglomeration phenomena appearing on different spatial scales contain different concentrations and dispersive powers.No economic geography model can explain all economic agglomeration phenomena.As a new spatial model of industrial agglomeration development,the characteristic towns are affected by factors such as industrial concentration and dispersion.What are the internal mechanisms and general laws of formation and development?Focusing on these issues,on the basis of a review of previous studies,this paper attempts to comprehensively apply the relevant theories of industrial economy and spatial economy,and conduct research from the following aspects:First of all,according to the theory of industrial economy and development practice,this paper analyzes and defines the constituent elements of characteristic towns.The characteristic town is a new type of industrial space carrier.At present,there are differences in the understanding of the concept of characteristic towns in both theoretical and practical fields.This paper analyzes the non-administrative attributes,new industrial organization methods,and functional fusion as the core elements,combined with auxiliary elements.The concept of the characteristic town is defined.On this basis,a literature review of domestic and foreign characteristic town research and industrial agglomeration research is carried out,and the characteristic town theory,classical location theory and new economic geography theory related to this research are briefly reviewed.Secondly,this paper uses the theory of industrial economy and classical location to study the factors affecting the industrial agglomeration of characteristic towns.The main contents are as follows:Firstly,using the theory of scale economy analysis,it is found that the characteristic towns form a clustered economies of scale by significantly increasing the density of production in characteristic industries,and building an open space network.This is the core concentration of characteristic towns;The theory of increasing returns analyzes the influence of shared intermediate inputs,matching labor market,technology and knowledge spillover on the special agglomeration effect of characteristic towns,and uses Jacobs' diverse agglomeration theory to analyze the effects of diversified agglomeration effects of characteristic towns.Comparing the two externalities,it is found that the special agglomeration effect of the characteristic town is more significant than the diversified agglomeration.The more specialized the division of labor in the leading industry or the less flexible the substitution of the product,the greater the special concentration of the characteristic town.The farther the large and medium-sized cities are,the more difficult it is to obtain the diversified concentration of the characteristic towns where the city's functional services are spilled.Third,the endogenous driving of the characteristic towns is the key to industrial agglomeration,but most of them need to go through a long period of time.Push-type driving can accelerate industrial agglomeration,but it must conform to the objective laws of local development and the trend of industrial development;Fourth,post-Fordist mode of production makes specialized agglomeration to improve production function and demand function,form a gathering force characteristics of the town,also in line with trends in the global industrial division of labor and competition in the geographic concentration of international industrial transfer characteristics.Thirdly,this paper uses spatial economics theory to study the effects of regional effects,innovation systems,correlation effects,consumer agglomeration,livability and investment and financing on the formation mechanism of characteristic towns on the basis of industrial agglomeration.The clustered characteristic town formation mechanism theory model is the core conclusion of this study.The main contents are as follows:(1)Industrial agglomeration and regional effects jointly determine whether a characteristic town can be formed and where it will be formed.When the industrial agglomeration effect of the enterprise is positive,it can form a characteristic town,and the enhancement of the regional effect is conducive to enhancing the concentration of the characteristic town.Most of the characteristic towns should occur in areas with strong regional effects,but when the agglomeration effect is strong enough At this time,even if there is no regional effect,it can still form a characteristic town.(2)The regional innovation system determines the vitality and competitiveness of the development of characteristic towns,and the correlation effect determines the scale potential of the development of characteristic towns.Enhancing the spatial density and dynamic openness of R&D institutions,while improving community service functions,can enhance knowledge spillovers and create innovative vitality in characteristic towns.Through the concentration and extension of leading industries,and exerting the correlation effect,it can form the driving force for the overall development of the characteristic towns,and then determine the potential economic and population concentration of the town.(3)Full employment,lower land prices and commuting costs,and better livability determine the population agglomeration capacity of the characteristic towns.(4)Investment and financing is an important content and guarantee for the formation mechanism of characteristic towns.Fourthly,this paper analyzes the characteristic towns from the perspective of geospatial,industrial characteristics and production network,and proposes a specific formation mechanism of characteristic towns based on multi-dimensional classification,and analyzes the statistical data and typical cases.Then,based on the proposed theoretical model of the formation mechanism of small towns,based on the feasibility of the research and the availability of data,using the specialized and diversified set of indicators and control variable sets,the OLS regression method is used to analyze the factors.Influencing the industrial development,innovation capability,scale potential and population agglomeration of the characteristic towns,this paper verifies the theoretical analysis of the previous article.On this basis,the performance evaluation model of the characteristic town is constructed,and the projection pursuit method is used to determine the weight of each indicator of input and output,so as to measure the comprehensive performance of each characteristic town,and then test whether the theoretical model of the characteristic town formation mechanism
