Research On The Internationalization Path And Influencing Factors Of Chinese Enterprises:Based On A Resource Dependence Perspective

Internationalization is not only an urgent need for Chinese enterprises to expand their living space and achieve sustainable development,but also a major opportunity for China to use high-level open policy-driven technology to catch up to achieve industrial upgrading and high-quality development.However,due to the identity of the latecomers,the international expansion of Chinese enterprises faces two aspects of resource dependence.First,the technical capabilities of Chinese enterprises are generally backward,and the global competitiveness of high-value products is weak.Second,Chinese enterprises have entered the international market late,and they are in a disadvantaged position compared with the incumbents.Under the background of the above-mentioned technology and market resources,how can Chinese enterprises successfully implement the “going out” strategy? The current theory is a good explanation of the motives,paths and influencing factors of international expansion of Chinese enterprises from different perspectives,but there is still no effective solution to this problem.There is an urgent need to systematically construct a model of the international expansion path of Chinese enterprises,and to deeply explore and solve the phenomenon and confusion in the process of global market integration.Based on this,this paper designs three sub-studies on the path of the expansion of the internationalization path of Chinese enterprises and the related factors.They are “the path for the acquisition of international resources for Chinese enterprises”,“the path for the formation of internationalization capabilities of Chinese enterprises” and “Chinese enterprise excutives' choice of internationalization path and influencing factors”.On this basis,through the case study,empirical research based on panel data,and empirical research based on questionnaire data,the core issues involved are discussed comprehensively.First,in the context of resource dependence,Chinese enterprises use resources to stimulate international assets and opportunities,and balance assets and opportunities by alternately leading behaviors,thereby successfully acquiring international resources and achieving global strategic goals.Specifically,the international resource acquisition path of Chinese enterprises can be seen as a process in which an enterprise dynamically instigates assets and opportunities through continuous interactive links.Through the sub-study,this paper explores the internal mechanism of the Linkage-Leverage-Learning model and reveals the dynamic interactive resource dependence of Chinese enterprises.At the same time,the research finds that the alternate leading behavior promotes the internationalization expansion process of Chinese enterprises.Second,in the context of resource dependence,the formation of internationalization capabilities of Chinese enterprises is inseparable from the efficient allocation and utilization of acquired resources.From the perspective of resource allocation efficiency improvement,Chinese enterprises urgently need to solve the problem of competitive resource conflicts.This paper studies 2-1 and finds that under the paradox of technology and market competitive resources,Chinese enterprises can promote the formation of internationalization capabilities by adopting public opinion buffer strategies and stimulating strategies on both sides of the conflict.At the same time,the continuous public opinion bearing is conducive to alleviating the resource conflicts of enterprises,and finally achieving the balance and integration of international technology and market capabilities.From the perspective of resource utilization efficiency improvement,Chinese enterprises urgently need to use internationalized windows to enhance R&D investment.The efficiency of output to promote its ability to catch up with technical skills.Sub-study 2-2 reveals the role of internationalization of Chinese enterprises in promoting the relationship between R&D investment and patent applications,and finds that internationalization can effectively mitigate the negative impact of ownership on R&D investment output efficiency.Third,the decision of the internationalization path of Chinese local enterprise excutives is influenced by the internal advantages of the enterprise and the value of the target overseas market resources.In the third study of this paper,when the enterprise has the advantage of the host country,the excutives shows the main tendency of the progressive internationalization path and the secondary tendency of the leaping internationalization path;when the host country has higher resource utilization value,excutives show a dominant tendency toward a leaping internationalization path and a secondary tendency toward a progressive internationalization path.In addition,excutives are driven by opportunity factors to demonstrate dual decision behavior.The main innovations of this paper are as follows: First,with sample of Chinese enterprises and under the China context,this paper provides “context” contribution to the research on transnational expansion path of Chinese enterprises with multiple theoretical perspectives such as dual perspective,network perspective,paradox perspective,system and efficiency perspective.Secondly,using research method of multi-case study,single case study and empirical analysis,this paper explores the internal mechanism of resources acquisition and capability construction of Chinese enterprises.The research results reveal the intrinsic mechanism of the LLL model from the perspective of resource dependence.Meanwhile,through building up comprehensive model of resource acquisition and capability construction of China enterprises,this paper solves the problem of “sustainable competition cannot be achieved only with resource purchase” in the “springboard” theory.Thirdly,based on a variety of theories,this paper constructs a decision-making scenario for the internationalization of China's enterprises.Furthermore,empirical research is done to identify the excutives' behavior tendency and the influencing factors of Chinese enterprises' internationalization path selection.To some extent,this paper answers the academic debate about "evolutionary or leapfrog?" in the research of enterprises expansion.
