"Limi people" is one of the branches of Yi nationality who dwell at Lincang city in Yunnan Province from age to age.During their long enclosed social life,a unique and relatively independent social structure,lifestyle and culture tradition has been gradually formed.On the basis of the collection and analysis of the relevant history and research materials,and combining with the information which the researcher collects from the in-depth interviews with the local cultural researchers as well as from the classification and analysis of the local cultural relic,the researcher has a knowledge of its social conditions which include the history of the Limi group,the regional distribution of Limi and the population mobility;and its cultural features which include folk customs,celebrations and etiquette,ethnic language and so on.Since the reform and opening up,especially in the 21st century,the Limi society has finished its enclosed condition and starts its new era in which the society changes sharply.Meanwhile,a lot of social contradictions,such as the remaining problem about ethnic identification,the disappearance of its unique culture,become more and more obvious.The school education in Limi area just gets great promotion and overall revolution under the general background that the regional society is changing and the existence and continuation of the ethnic group is in trouble.The researcher goes to more than ten schools to carry out participant observation,and conducts in-depth interviews with students,teachers,school administrators and related people.What can be found is that the schools in Limi area completely duplicate the common patterns of national education and has local significance in maintaining stability and supporting the frontier.But,curriculum and knowledge localization of Limi local education proceed slowly and are short of power.The content and forms of the school education in Limi area are passed through the students and teachers to Limi people's social life.At the same time,the organized and individual power from the Limi society has supportive or restrictive impact on the whole development of the schools in Limi areas.The educational field,which is embedded in the social field,freely and autonomously has exchange and convection in rules and resources with surrounding social environment.Limi people have cultural habits,such as puppy love,early marriage and idleness;as well as mental habits,such as bashfulness and pragmatism.All of these interweave with family and social education,employment trend and precise poverty alleviation work,factors of extroversion and de-national education system,influencing the educational achievements of Limi students.Under the influence of ethnic cultural fields and habits,a large number of Limi students get the connivance and blessing from family and society in their education achievements.However,this kind of cultural mechanism makes the society as a closed loop to maintain the reproduction of population and culture of Limi group.The national education system,whose structured function lies in the marginal society of nationality,frontier and country,is deeply rooted in Limi people's life in terms of space,time and significance.Specifically,its structured function is to maintain stability by spreading multiplex but integrated national pattern and the ideology.In the structures of the education and social environment,by means of operating micro-powers in such three dimensions as status,behavior and ideas,few Limi students utilize and transform different kinds of rules and capitals of family and schools,to reach restriction and regurgitation-feeding of ethnic traditional society,culture and mental structures,and to cater to the preference of the mainstream values and educational achievements systems.Finally,these students receive good education achievements and promote the regional changes together with other students.On the basis of the above research and analysis,as well as the reflection that the researcher has on the two-way process of creation both in filed and in the study,the researcher attempts to construct Regional Sociology of Education in the sense of the middle theory.
