Nuosu Yi Language is one of the six major dialects of Yi language, also known as the North Yi dialect. It is divided into northern subdialect and southern subdialect, including Shengzha dialect,Yinuo dialect,Suodi dialect and Tianba dialect. There is almost no communication barrier among the various dialects, they call themselves "Nuosu" and have a population of nearly three million,Nuosu Yi Language is a typical representation of Yi Language.One-to-one correspondence between morphemes and syllables is a characteristic of single syllables.Yi language, like Chinese,is a typical monosyllabic language.Although it has many polysyllabic words, its morphemes are neat monosyllabic. The study of its morpheme segmentation is of great significance to the comparative study of the Yi language branches, the Tibetan-Burmese languages, and the Sino-Tibetan languages. This thesis mainly studies the morphemes of Nuosu Yi language, which is divided into seven chapters:Chapter One: Introduction. This chapter mainly introduces the purpose and significance of the research, the previous research, the source of the material, the style of the text, and the descriptions of symbols.Chapter Two: Yi language and Nuosu Yi language. This chapter mainly introduces the basic situation of Yi Language and Yi scripts as well as the internal distinction within different dialects of Nuosu Yi Language. Each Yi dialect has formed its own specific subculture, with its own fixed residential area and corresponding material culture, institutional culture, and spiritual culture.they were summarized in the sound system of Shengzha(??31nd?a33)dialect,Yinuo(??33n?33)dialect,Suodi(s?33ndi31)dialect and Tianba(li31ndi31 mu33)dialect.Chapter there: Honological Study of Nuosu Yi morphemes. This chapter mainly studies the phoneme arrangement in Shengzha(??31nd?a33)dialect,Yinuo(??33n?33)dialect,Suodi(s?33ndi31)dialect and Tianba(li31ndi31 mu33)dialect,namely,the consonant initial correspondence, vowel final correspondence and the tone evolution. The unvoicing, aspirating, dulling, and nasal crown dulling in the dialects of the chosen areas in the Nuosu Yi language are neat, and soft palatal sounds have evidently evolved into lingual sound, dental sound, and tongue rolling sound. The nasal crown dullness has completely disappeared in the Tianba Yi dialect, and the Suodi Yi dialect has no nasalization. The vowels of the dialects of the chosen areas in Nuosu Yi language are mainly unit vowels, and the Suodi Yi dialect has three complex vowels. There are linguistic facts about the phenomenon of heightening, reducing and pre-voweling of the vowels in various dialects of Nuosu Yi language. Each of the Nuosu Yi dialect has three local tones, the second highest tones are descending. The phonetic changes of Nuosu Yi language have their own characteristics.Chapter Four: A Semantic Study on The Morphemes of Nuosu Yi language. How core morphemes are coded, what changes have occurred in history and what are the commonalities and specificities of various languages are questions that historical linguistics must answer. This chapter mainly of monosyllabic morphemes Nuosu Yi language semantics(meanings)for a full description, rendering of morpheme homophony Nuosu Yi language facts, listed homophones Nuosu Yi language semantics related morpheme, confirmed by borrowing from language contact Nuosu Yi language of Chinese morpheme.Chapter five: Morpheme of word-building Nuosu Yi language study. From morphemes to words and phrases is the inevitable path of language development. This chapter will describe and explain how the morphemes of Nuosu Yi language combine words or phrases. The word formation of Nuosu Yi language can be roughly divided into two categories: derivation and compound method.Chapter Six: The homologous morphemes and their evolution of The Nuosu Yi language This chapter adopts the method of East Asian Language Research Center of Fudan University to conduct homologous morpheme segmentation for the words of Miyi and Mianning of Nuosu Yi,that is,to identify the semantics of morphemes by the segmentation of morphemes through phonetic correspondence.Judging from the literature and archeological materials, the early Di people are the ancestors of YiBurmese people today, and the Di Language is also the ancestor of modern Yi Burmese. In this chapter, the phonological tone between Burmese and Nuosu Yi which evolved from the same ancestor is compared and discussed.
