Abstract/Summary:
Beidahuang Literature not only represents a regional literary phenomenon with its unique characteristics in the aspects of history,geography and humanity,but also,in the meantime,stands for a significant literary movement,which,as the indispensable element of the establishment of the socialist literature and culture in our nation,was deeply involved in the commencement and development of the literature of the People’s Republic of China.Briefly,it is an important component of Chinese contemporary literature spatially,and,moreover,it is undoubtedly the generating factor of the rise and development of the socialist literature in new China.Right after the foundation of the People’s Republic of China,a hundred thousand officers and soldiers in military rushed to the Northeastern Wilderness following their demobilization,transforming their roles in war to serving for the economic construction,which signifies itself the great pioneering spirit of the socialist construction of new China;simultaneously,the construction of the state farm in the Northeastern Wilderness,with the representation of its image by the literature production,had rapidly become the main resources for people around the nation to imagine how the socialist China could be.While in the new period,Beidahuang literature also took part in the reformation of Chinese contemporary literature and thoughts,in the forms of educated youth literature and other modes,leaving over invaluable and indelible record in the history.However,Beidahuang literature remained relatively inactive during the 1990 s in the condition of new social and historical environment caused by the radical social change which was the result of market oriented reform.In the new century,the more dialectical and historical reflect on the social mission and quality of literature,as well as the experience of the practice of socialist literature was initiated in the more complicated historical context,with the more arduous historical task,under the circumstance of deepening construction and reformation of the socialism with Chinese characteristics.The critical project of contemporary literature and its theoretical research,seemingly,has consequently been reflecting on the developing route of Chinese contemporary literature,coping with the difficulties appeared in the current transformation regarding literature and culture,reviewing the literary experience and its change in the process of socialist construction in our nation,especially the 30 years prior to the new period.We are being accordingly required,to a significant extent,to walk out from the relative cramped space of pure literary meditation,reinterpret and construct the historical and humanistic function of literature.Undoubtedly,the radical change of literature production in the new century,especially the emergence of internet literature and other new types of media culture,already indicated that a new literature ecology and a new cultural pattern have been formed or are being formed.At the same time,when most part of the literary market has been occupied by the new capital of internet media and the prospect of the new totality remains unclear,reviewing and tracing Beidahuang literature production,analyzing and reflecting the literature ecology with explicit consciousness of totality,will naturally possess the strong sense of presence.Beidahuang literature production is a literary project promoted by people’s practice of literature and art,advocated and boosted by the socialist state farm which is the typical socialist collective.In a word,it is a typical production of people’s literature with the nature of the practice of the socialism system.From this point of view,Beidahuang literature,which innately resides in the process of the social development of new China,shows its important sense of consultation,due to the fact that it has been closely bound up with the developing route and fate of the national culture and our country,and its exploration of system as well as discourse practice have been tightly with the socialist art and literature construction of new China.The first chapter briefly,in a macro perspective,expounds the historical and humanistic features of Beidahuang,illuminating the historical thread of the exploitation of Beidahuang and its strategic meaning in the development of our nation and society,and revealing the historical and humanistic fundamental feature of Beidahuang literature production.This chapter also traces back the relative literature production theories which embodies the theoretical approach to compose this paper.Therefore,as directed by this theoretical purpose,the concept and nature of Beidahuang literature production shall be elaborated in this chapter.The second chapter starts with the explanation of socialist imagination and Beidahuang literature production’s image and intentionality in the temporal and spatial dimensions,pointing out that Beidahuang literature production transformed thefundamental content of the socialist theory to images and symbols,and completed its intentional presentation by the socialist imagination,such as liberation,equality and creativity,participating,on this basis,the record and formation of specific modes of social relationships.This chapter emphasizes the close connection between Beidahuang literature and new China’s socialist literature and cultural project,especially indicate the significance of Beidahuang literature’s socialist imagination and record,as the important attempt of literature production’s system practice of the socialist cultural construction of our country.The third chapter concludes and analyzes,in detail,the Beidahuang literature in terms of its exploration and experience of the system practice of the socialist literature production,through the dimensions of the designation of system,media,association and artistic activities.The author commences with the literary policies,regulations and systems of different periods and levels,collects and analyzes various newspapers and magazines,investigated historical documents concerning the establishment of literary associations,calling for literary works and seminars,for the purpose of summarizing Beidahuang literature production more accurately and comprehensively,laying the foundation for further analyzing the subjects,contents,self-cognition,artistic spreading and the potential problems of Beidahuang literature.The forth chapter discusses the adjustment,transformation and recognition of the consciousness of identification of different writers who constitute the Beidahuang writer’s group,investigating the origin,character and growing process of the writer’s group,revealing the complication of its structural texture.Meanwhile,this chapter points out the divergence and shift of the mature writers,the growing and cultivation of the new writers,as well as the generating and enlargement of the group of folk writers.In spite of the internal divergence among Beidahuang literature writers,they share common consciousness and memories.The fifth chapter focuses on the particular literary texts,observing the representing modes of Beidahuang literature’s socialist imagination and its discursive practice,expounding the characteristics of writers and works in the context of Beidahuang literature production.This chapter illuminates in particular the combination of objective reality and notional reality of Beidahuang literature’s works in the literature production,and Beidahuang literature’s effort of free itself from thetemporal and spatial restriction for the sake of balancing itself in the fictional and nonfictional worlds.Basing on the inner power,Beidahuang literature unfolds its three manifestations,i.e.,the intertextuality of objective reality and notional reality,the externalization of the unique ethic and habitual elements,the aesthetic production of ideology.The sixth chapter summarizes the periodical achievements of socialist construction and the experience and achievements of Beidahuang literature production,at the same time,objectively analyzes the situations that Beidahuang Literature has faced in the persistence and renascences of context of different ages,especially post-revolution,and points out the reality of undercurrent and its problems.The chapter places Beidahuang literature production in the multi-modern context and seeks the methods to break through in the loss of position and restoration.
