Uriankhai dialect is a Mongolian dialect spoken along the border of People' s Republic of China and Mongolia.There are a few phonological studies and research conducted on Uriankhai dialect in Mongolia by far.Uriankhai Mongolians in China mainly lives in Altay City of Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region and its Khandagait Mongolian autonomous township and Qinggil County,Burqin County,Burultokay County and Koktokay County.Their dialect has been preserved completely there.However,no systematic research has been done on the dialect.Uriankhai Mongolian have lived with the major populous ethnic of Khazak and Uriankhai dialect is also influenced by Khazak language.It forms a Mongolian language island surrounded by Khazak language.Therefore,the characteristics of their dialect is worth studying.The use of Uriankhai dialect is diminishing among young generation of Uriankhai Mongolian with the impact of globalization,urbanization,bilingual-education and the influence by other languages.It is also true that the dialect is on the verge of extinction.The topic is chosen according to the current situation of the dialect.The dissertation is based on the fieldwork conducted in Altay city,Khandagait Mongolian autonomous township for four times.The structure and main contents are as follows:Introduction part includes the reason and meaning of choosing the topic,previous study,method and collected materials.Part 1 introduces nouns in Uriankhai dialect and its semantic characteristics.The similarities and difference between the noun of Uriankhai dialect are listed by compared with the written Mongolian language and other Oirat dialects.Part 2 introduces verbs in Uriankhai dialect and its semantic characteristics.Part 3 introduces the words with no morphological changes.Their grammatical characteristics are studied in this chapter.Conclusion part generalizes the contents of the paper,and clarifies the target of future studies.
