From Self-discipline To Accommodation:The Study On Stravinsky's Art Thought

Since the beginning of the twentieth century,the theme of self-discipline and heteronomy is not only the art of music,but also represents and reflects the art of that time,and even the universal question of philosophy and aesthetics,the changes of people's psychology and thoughts of that era.This universal question affects Igor Feodorovich Stravinsky's art thought,the theme of which is also the self-discipline and heteronomy.His art thought not only solves the problem of the development of music art in that era,but also represents the basic trend of western art in the twentieth century.Meanwhile,it reflects the background and characteristics of the era,thus has universal significance and sampling significance.Stravinsky was a very important modern composer,artist and art theorist in twentieth century.He was once rated as one of the 100 most influential people in twentieth century by Time and occupied an extremely important position in the field of modern art and even the whole culture.Therefore,since the 20 s of last century,the study of Stravinsky had been a hot topic for scholars at home and abroad.Stravinsky`s art road began in the early twentieth century,which lasted more than half a century.The complex social and cultural background in that era put profound influence on his art thought which,at the same time,reflected the pulse of that time and the development trend of social culture.While,domestic and foreign scholars tend to adopt an idea of "dynastic history",which focused on art style,thought,and art creation,but not yet formed the whole interpretation.Moreover,in the case that art has become an independent category,the research has not been seen for the systematic research of such an important modern artist and his thought to say that this is a pity.On the whole,in the early art career Stravinsky has been uphold the art concept of self-discipline,and then constantly made accommodation of knowledge and idea from philosophy,aesthetics and literature to continuously optimize and update his art thought,so that the formation of Stravinsky's thought of art shows the overall situation from self-discipline to accommodation.In the whole situation from self discipline to accommodation,Stravinsky's art thought can be divided into three stages,namely,the demarcation stage,the turning stage and the developing stage.In the escaping stage,Stravinsky's idea of self disciplined art has been established and has been transmitted to the turning stage and expanding stage.This has become an important clue to track,recall and restore the connotation of his art thoughts at all stages.By borrowing from the symbolism art concept and the religious consciousness of identity from ancient Russia,his art thoughts at the escaping stage revealed a romantic and self-disciplining thinking on arts in the heteronomy environment,showing that he had the original consciousness of maintaining the essence and value of art in the early stage of his art career.At the turning stage,Stravinsky still uphold the self-discipline of art concept,but compared to the escaping stage,and deeply influenced,at this stage,by the art thought of the Russian formalism aesthetics and the theory of defamiliarization,he turned to reunderstand the art forms based on the unity of form and sense,and emphasized the art thought with the sense of defamiliarization.In the development stage,gradually influenced by Cassirer's philosophy of culture and thought of structuralism,Stravinsky's art thought has focused on the profound discussion of the meaning of "symbolism" and "definition" in the form of art,namely the interpretation of its form,thus,it shows the trend of further expansion of Stravinsky's art thought.It can be seen that Stravinsky's art thought not only represents the change of music art in twentieth century,but also has universal significance in the basic trend of western art in twentieth century,even with the significance of cultural symbols in twentieth century.Therefore,the study of Stravinsky's art thought,on the one hand,can explain the evolution and the overall trend of his art thoughts,and on the other hand,will promote his art thoughts to the height of arts science theory.Although Stravinsky has died for nearly half a century,his art ideas still have reference and value for the development of contemporary Chinese literature and art.That his absorption and breakthrough the tradition,grasp of aesthetic identification strategy,emphasis on the quality of art innovation and thinking on the universal value of art provides some reference for the development of contemporary Chinese art.
