| The time when Chinese film transitioned from silent film to sound film coincided with the period when Chinese Communist Party realized the importance of films and began to seize the film industry.Sound film has more diverse means of expression and was used by film creators such as Xia Yan,Zheng Boqi,Ah Ying,Tian Han of proletarian cultural background.After the establishment of a new concept of film and a new theme,they began to explore new means of voice expression.Not only did they change the direction of the development of Chinese film,but also they brought music into this historical process,which triggered a vigorous "new music movement" in the Chinese film industry-the left-wing film music movement.Research in this book is carried out based on the three steps of the left-wing film music aesthetic practice,namely: music creation,music performance and music appreciation.Firstly,it introduces the creation and representative characters of left-wing film music(as well as some famous contemporary film makers and musicians),such as composer Nie’er,Ren Guang,He luting,Xian Xinghai,Lv Ji,Huang Zi,Li Jinhui,Liu Xue’an and songwriter Tian Han,An’ E,Fan Yanqiao,whose film music works and progressive music thought are commented and evaluated.Then the paper introduces the main groups and representative figures of left-wing film music performances during this historic period.These figures include all kinds of performance groups and movie stars who were popular nationwide in the 1930 s.Their classical music images in the films of the left-wing period are also interpreted from the artistic and musical perspective.The research then introduces the fundamental experience and its leap of the public appreciation of left-wing film music.This paper probes into the cultural causes,channels of transmission,audience needs and social functions of left-wing film music in order to answer the ultimate question about the aesthetic law and artistic essence of left-wing film music practice-distinct politicization and ideology in its creation,the realistic image inspired by the proletarian thought in its performance,and the common origin of the class struggle and family complex in its appreciation.The scope of the research covers the study of artistic law of music,the comparative study of left-wing film music,pop music and foreign film music,the social research on the influence of left-wing film music,and the political research on its relationship with the historical context.Based on extensive literature,this book uses different research methods and perspectives to unveil an inspiring and immortal chapter of the radiant and exciting left-wing film music in modern China. |
