Discourse Analysis On The Narration Of Hexi Corridor

With the development of language studies,the research on discourse is gradually enriched.The perspective and the scope of discourse research shows the trend of diversification,ranging from the relationship of discourse structure and social context,discourse and the social psychological representation to the study on language and the social cultural context as well.The object of discourse analysis covers varieties of discourses in the form of spoken and written ones,which involves the evaluation,meta discourse,language,identity construction and dissemination,the social context of discourse,and the relationship between language and power.The all-round study on documentary narration is gradually kicked off.This paper takes the narration of Hexi Corridor as the text.With the analysis of the communicative structure of expository discourse,the paper explains how the communicative subjects of expository discourse realize its communicative intention of spreading Chinese voice,showing the image of China,demonstrating civilization and progress of China.At the same time,the analysis of the vocabulary,syntax and other aspects of the rhetorical characteristics helps to explain how the documentary film of Hexi Corridor tells the Chinese story,spread Chinese culture,shape China's image and expand China's influence.Discourse analysis on documentary narration is an attempt at the study of Hexi Corridor and other documentary related.This study focuses on what the documentary wants to express,and in what way it is expressed,which includes the following seven sections:The first part is the introduction of the study.This chapter introduces the basis of topic selection,documentary corpus source,research object,research review,research significance and research methods.The literature review mainly relies on the general situation of discourse research at home and abroad and the documentary narration research,introducing the historical development,the angle and method of discourse research,and the present situation of discourse research.Through the review of the expository study of the documentary Hexi Corridor,it is learned that the linguistic study on the documentary is weak,especially the discourse linguistics.Therefore,the discourse analysis of the textual elements and structure of the narration embodies the research value of this paper.The second part is on the study of the communicative structure of the expository text of the documentary Hexi Corridor.This chapter defines the narrative properties of the discourse first and then analyzes its communicative structure under the framework of Speech Act Theory.The Theory of Speech Act highlights the social functioning perspective of study on speech act.The communicative intention is the core of speech act and the basis of the verbal communication.To achieve the purpose of communication,the speaker always implements three kinds of speech acts at the same time,of which the illocutionary and perlocutionary speech act are the focus of the study rather than the literal meaning of the discourse itself.And three factors of communicative intention,communicative subjects and communicative context constitute the communicative structure of discourse.This chapter analyzes the textual communicative structure,the characteristics and types of verbal communication of the documentary Hexi Corridor.The third part is the analysis of the documentary Hexi Corridor,the expository discourse and its context.As an essential part of discourse analysis,the contextual analysis make it easy to achieve communicative intention through the manipulation of context.The context can be divided into situational context and cultural one,the former directly acts on the formation of discourse,and the latter affects indirectly.The situational context of discourse covers varieties of scenes,the specific context and the scene of language use,which often exists inside the discourse.The cultural context,however,functions as the big context on which the discourse depends.Language and culture are interdependent and interacting,on the one hand,language is the carrier of culture,and culture also restricts the generation and development of language.This chapter analyzes the contextual context according to the spatial and temporal context distribution characteristics of the discourse,and probes into the promotion of situational context and cultural context to discourse generation.The concrete analysis of situational context and social and cultural context can not only help the speaker's selective use of context to guide the addressee to understand the pragmatic intention of the speaker,but also lay the foundation for the subsequent discourse analysis.The fourth part is about the language Strategy in the documentary Hexi Corridor expository Discourse.Because of the one-way conversational relationship between documentary and audience,the basic intention of documentary narration is to explain the content of the picture and convey the message to the audience,but the speaker can not get timely feedback from the audience to modify and change the strategy at any time.This requires the speaker to make full use of the means of language in the process of creating the narration,choosing the appropriate strategy to realize its intention,mainly adopting the rhetorical strategy to complete the intention of transmitting the information to explain the picture,and using the subjective expression strategy to strengthen the subjective intention of saying the good Chinese dialect.Based on the specific examples,this chapter analyzes the language strategies used in expository discourse from two aspects of discourse rhetoric strategy and discourse power expression.The fifth part focuses on the text cohesion and coherence in the documentary Hexi Corridor expository.It is not appropriate to confine the coherence of the discourse to the relationship between lines,for it is closely related to the realization of discourse speech act,the formation mode of discourse,the purpose,plan and intention of the speaker.Firstly,this paper summarizes the existing analysis and research on the term of cohesion and coherence,and sums up the theoretical methods suitable for the textual cohesion and coherent understanding of the documentary,and then describes and analyzes the cohesion and coherent expressions in the expository discourse through concrete examples.The emphasis is on presenting the connection and coherent expression of the expository text of the documentary Hexi Corridor from non-verbal means.The sixth part is about the text progression and structure of the documentary Hexi Corridor expository.Coherence is one of the important features of discourse,and the investigation of discourse coherence and discourse integrity can also be started from the perspective of discourse function.As the important part of the systemic functional linguistics,the textual function of discourse is realized by varieties of ways,during which the theme and rheme structure and information structure of discourse play an important role in interpreting the function of discourse.The theme and rheme are not isolated from each other,but interrelated.The expression of the terms and the theme progression mode are concerned with the content and meaning of discourse expression,that is the information,rather than the form of discourse.The analysis of semantic relations between sentences in discourse hierarchy helps to distinguish the distribution of known and new information in the information structure and the interaction between the two types of information.This chapter probes into the promotion of textual coherence and integrity in expository discourse from two aspects of the theme progression structure and information structure in the expository discourse of Hexi corridor.The seventh part is the textual narrative research on the film of Hexi Corridor.With the continuous development of documentary industry,the artistic creation of documentaries at home and abroad has gradually embarked on the development way of storytelling.The storytelling way of expression has been widely recognized.In three years of broadcast,the Douban score on the documentary Hexi Corridor does not decline but rise,which is a magnificent atmosphere among the documentary films on humanities and history.The narrative of the storytelling expression attributes a lot to its success.This chapter analyzes the success of its storytelling narration from the aspects of the creation structure,coding features and narrative language of the documentary Hexi Corridor.The last part is the conclusion of the paper.Through the analysis of the textual communicative structure of the Hexi corridor,we can find out how the communicative subject completes the storytelling narration under the action of context,and realizes its communicative intention of carrying forward Chinese civilization and telling good Chinese story in the expository discourse of Hexi Corridor.
