Application Of Chinese Folksong In Chinese Modern Music

This paper intended to examine the Chinese modem music which emerged after the early 20th century.Dependent on the creation method to sort out the Chinese modem music and observe the creative thinking and main features of the combination of Chinese traditional elements and Western compositional techniques.This paper takes Chinese folksong as the focus,through analysis of the creation methods on combining Chinese folksong with Western compositional techniques.This will also try to expound how Chinese folksong is used in Chinese modern music works and explore the influence of the transition relation between traditional culture and the ideological trend of time culture to the works.The focus of this paper is on the works of eight composers from different periods in China’s modern music since the 20th century.The combination of the Chinese folksong as the theme elements and the Western compositional techniques such as harmony,polyphony,texture and music form in the eight works reflects one of the main characteristic of Chinese modern music.At the same time,it reflects the historical value and inherit significance of Chinese folksong in the development of Chinese modern music.
