Lin Zhaohua is one of the most influential and controversial directors in the filed of Chinese contemporary theatre.In his 40 years of artistic practice,he has contributed more than 80 kinds of works,such as drama,Chinese traditional opera and opera,many of which have become the representative works in different stages of Chinese drama development since the new period.His works are varied and eclectic.The forward-looking vision tries almost all the stage expressions.His thoughts on drama have transcended the content of the drama narrative and touched the drama language itself.Both his works and dramatic thoughts have important academic value for the research on Chinese contemporary theatre.Western narratology,arise in the 20 th century,after the transformation of the scope of research,has included theatre into its research field,provided a new perspective and methodology for theatre research.The use of narratological theory to develop drama studies has two different perspectives: dramatic literature narrative and stage narrative.The dissertation is the research on the narrative method of Lin Zhaohua’s theatrical works,and his own concept on theatrical performance,“Double Structure of Performance” and the concept of stage narrative – “Director’s Dual Structure” as the research object.Through the analysis of the texts of his works,build the method system of his stage narrative and explore his complete theatrical theory.The prolegomenon introduce the research background and the meaning of this topic,and clearly shows that the research object is the two core concepts and methods of “performance double structure” and “director dual structure” in Lin Zhaohua”s works.And this dissertation also points out that although the concept of “dual structure of performance”was proposed by Lin Zhaohua himself,it could not fully summarize his thoughts on performance and all the attempts he has done on the innovation of performance.It is more suitable to use “narrative performance”as a holistic concept.The former is one of the latter types.This thesis attempts to use the narrative theory to interpret the director’s language and theatrical performance discourse,which is rare in previous drama studies and has certain innovation.The first chapter is “A Summary of Lin Zhaohua’s theatric creation and concepts”.This chapter introduces the process of Lin Zhaohua’s creative director career,and make a pectinationto the content of Lin Zhaohua’s theatrical creation thoughts from three aspects: performance,director and dramaturge.Lin Zhaohua’s viewpoint about performance has two levels: One is to explore the “double structure of performance”,the second is to learn the principles of aesthetics of Chinese traditional theatre and establish an aethetic Chinese performance system;His viewpoint about directing inherits the principal of “one play one”which was proposed by Jiao Juyin.According to this,Lin Zhaohua puts forward his personal proposition of “the second theme of the director”,and gradually forms a stage narrative form which allows the “director’s second theme” and the “first theme of the text” to stand side by side on the stage.This is the “double structure of director”;He proposes the idea of creating “all-round drama”,and is committed to perfecting the Chinese school of theatre,and strives to create China’s own performance system.The second chapter is “narrative performance concept”.This chapter examines the evolution of Lin Zhaohua’s performance concept,and explains the reason why Lin Zhaohua’s theatrical performance concept is replaced by “narrative performance” instead of “performance double structure”.It analyzes and expounds its connotation,that is,it is based on the relationship between actors and characters.On the basis of the multiplicity,the aesthetic principles of Chinese traditional performing arts and the performance discourses with independent narrative meaning are the fusion of the modernity of drama and the pursuit of modernity of drama.And through the comparison with the existing theatrical performance concepts,the theoretical source of this innovative performance concept is combed.The third chapter is “narrative performance method”.In order to realize the “narrative performance”,Lin Zhaohua mainly carried out the transformation of traditional realistic performances from three aspects.First,the narrator is narrated,allowing the actor to perform as a narrator under a highly conscious self-consciousness.Second,the narrative is narrated,and the linguistic forms such as dialogue,monologue,and narration are described and transformed into recollections.The narrative state is either the traditional Chinese rap and the narrative form in the opera performance;the third is to change the relationship between words and movements,so that the performance presents three different tendencies of static,freehand and discrete,among which,the separation.The tendency to perform is the “double structure of performance”.The innovation of the performance method is ultimately reflected in the stage narrative method,and the “narrative performance” provides the necessary support for the realization of the “direct structure of the director”.The fourth chapter is “Director’s Dual Structure Concept and Method”.“Director’s dual structure” is the embodiment of the director’s strong desire to express himself as a stage narrator.The first section of this chapter combs the evolution of the “direct structure of the director”;the second section elaborates its connotation;the third section analyzes its method.In a nutshell,for the “director’s dual structure”,it is its premise to retain the text of the script as a structure.The “director’s second theme”is its true meaning.The“narrative performance” is to make two.The technology relies on the coexistence of technology,supplemented by a unique form of shell,multi-party organic combination to complete its construction,to achieve a multi-level,multi-level stage expression.In summary,the artistic achievements of Lin Zhaohua’s works are mainly reflected in the theoretical thinking on performances,stage narrative innovations,and many kinds of works created in long-term practice.His narrative concept of drama stage is very modern and forward-looking.The dissertation innovatively uses the method of narratology to analyze the formation,structure and meaning of Lin Zhaohua’s stage narrative discourse from the core media of the theatrical stage text-actor performance and director discourses,and explain its unique director language.On this basis,further attempts are made to make a systematic narrative theoretical interpretation of a complete stage narrative process,from director to stage narrative discourse to theater narrative communication.
