In the context where Hui writers create literary works that concern and reflect the real life of the Hui nationality in Chinese since the new period,this paper focuses on thematic study and aesthetic cultural criticism,and discusses the implicit and explicit relationship between individual discourse and ethnic,national and identity discourses based on the theory of cultural recognition.The author tries to deeply explore such issues as the formation,contradiction and settlement related to the multi-cultural identities of Hui writers under the multicultural background.Literary works created by modern Hui writers is the ideographic practice that pays attention to Hui life from the perspectives of art and aesthetic appreciation,through which cultural recognition and consciousness are obviously demonstrated,while the connotation and mechanism of cultural recognition are reinforced.Therefore,instead of conducting a panoramic scanning,summary and arrangement of the literary works of modern Hui writers,this paper makes specific researches and discussions by selecting some representative works,especially the novels,proses and poetry created by writers with national,cultural and aesthetic characteristics.This paper extracts Hui writers’ literary expressions that reflect cultural recognition,analyzes their understanding and recognition concepts in the globalization context,and explores how writers build literary landscapes with rich national characteristics in the construction of multi-cultural identities.Moreover,the literary nostalgia coming from cultural recognition is this bidirectional interaction between reminiscence and identity construction that writers achieve the aesthetic transcendence of literary expressions,so as to obtain substantial aesthetic value and far-reaching significance,promote the progress of cultural recognition by Hui writers,and determine the right direction for Hui writers.Hui writers overcome individual and national barriers with an open mind to imply inclusive and diversified aesthetic commonality.They naturally seek for national origins using eternal propositions in literature,and realize aesthetic expressions and art innovations in the integration of multiple cultures.For this reason,the literary expressions of modern Hui writers can exchange with other cultures through dialogues on an equal footing from the angle of aesthetic appreciation.Focusing on the close relationship between literature and culture,the author reads a lot of works of Hui writers carefully and thoroughly,employs the critical mode of believes that under the context of globalization,Hui writers begin to recognize the opportunity brought by self-enhancement of identity and development space in the collisions of multiple cultures,increasing the possibility of creating more works displaying the "otherness" and "uniqueness" of their own culture.However,during the integration of multiple cultures,Hui writers have to face new challenges such as homogeneity.By literary creation,therefore,the modern Hui writers show their concern about cultural recognition in dealing with such challenges.Through the academic analysis of cultural recognition,the second part of this chapter ascribes the spiritual clues of Hui writers’ literary creation to the stimulating effects of heterogeneous and crisis senses resulting from the cultural recognition crisis in that these factors lead to obvious self-awareness,enhanced identity consciousness and active exploration of identity.Starting from the literary works created by modern Hui writers,Chapter two explores how the Hui writers construct cultural recognition from the following three aspects.To begin with,the identity of writers derives from the formation of cultural psychology and cultural personality in personal growth.And then,it is profoundly affected by some national cultures like the Islamic culture,regional cultures and folk cultures.Finally,adhering to the traditional philosophy that families and the state share the same structure in the absorption and assimilation of individual and national cultures,the writers hope to obtain a strong support from identity in the integration of multiple cultures in China.The connotations and manifestations of "nationality","families and the state sharing the same structure" and "multi-ethnic culture" are the focuses of this section.Chapter three aims at exploring the literary expressions of modern Hui writers built on the construction of cultural recognition.On the one hand,the prevailing "sense of losing home" brought by "homogeneity" is faced by Hui writers who absorb different cultural elements with the purpose of forming their own unique cultural characters and artistic styles.On the other hand,however,"differentiation" stimulates them to recall the national culture and home emotions by virtue of their literary expressions,making the expressing strategies ranging from languages to narrations filled with a strong disposition to rebuild traditions and recover home sense.Therefore,literature is used to construct a literary landscape world different from daily space and conduct analyses and reflections by applying different topic types.Chapter four explores the "literary nostalgia" expressed in the works of modern Hui writers and explains the intentions and purposes of rebuilding traditional cultures with the nostalgic writing style,which is the emotional clue and modern value spontaneously formed by the writers’ literary texts.In addition,this section successively extracts the works of Hui writers via cultural recognition and aesthetic orientation,going from "aesthetic transcendence" to the significance and value of the ultimate concern of human beings with universal values.Meanwhile,the aesthetic criticism and value orientation for the research objects in this chapter have enhanced the research value of this topic.The conclusion summarizes the whole text,presents a supplemental description of the outlook on future and reflections on the reality,and puts forward some reasonable suggestions and criticism on literary works of modern Hui writers. |
