By re-examining the concept of "nationalization" of printmaking,this paper probes into the expression of this proposition in different periods in 20 th century and the reasons for its formation in the historical horizon,and inquires into the limitations of the concept of "nationalization" of printmaking and its significance today.Through "re-examination",it opens a local printmaking spirit and the possibility of creative direction reconstruction,and then guides us,of course,first of all,my own personally-creative practice.This article mainly uses the unified methods of the image research,the literature analysis and the case study,at the same time emphasizes a kind of critical consciousness.The first part of this paper mainly combs the performance and influence of the concept of "nationalization" of printmaking in different stages in 20 th century,mainly from the investigation of works of art and artistic events.This part focuses on the changes in the print images,patterns,and other artistic phenomena caused by this concept in different historical periods.The second part mainly examines the background and reasons of the concept of "nationalization" of printmaking in the historical process,and reveals the significance and limitation of this proposition in the historical context.This part examines from three dimensions: First of all,the "historical circumstances",focusing on the beginning of 20 th century and the historical background after the reforming and opening up,analysis of the impact of the social changes brought about by the opening of the two countries to the proposition;The second is the "national awakening",which is the direct manifestation of "nationalism".The evolution of the modern concept of "nationalism" and its relationship with the proposition are investigated.Finally is "political will" to examine the direct effect of the political literary and artistic policy on this proposition during the Anti-Japanese War and the period of socialist construction.The third part of this paper examines the limitations of the concept of "nationalization" of print and the possibility of surmounting it from the perspective of metaphysics.This part first analyzes the important influence and limitation of the western traditional metaphysical "objectified" thinking on the formation of this concept from the perspective the source thought source.Secondly,it analyzes the context of current art creation,and clarifies the current situation of print creation.Finally,through the analysis of the tradition of Western print and the spirit of Chinese traditional art,this paper explores the positive aspects of "tradition" which transcend the limitations of this proposition.
