Research On International Governance Mechanism Of Religious Conflicts

As globalization deepens,the research of international law has expanded to a variety of fields such as outer space,deep sea,copyright issues and humanitarian aid.Nations have become accustomed to resolving international conflicts through international law.Although the international society is stable overall,there still exists many uncertain elements.Religion is a very important form of ideology in contemporary society;it more or less played a role in most of the regional conflicts in the 21st century.The rising of terrorism and religious extremism has led the expansion of international law into the field of non-traditional security issues.In today's international society,religious conflict governance has become the utmost important issue for maintaining international peace and security.This paper intends to analyze the international religious conflict governance mechanism from two perspectives:first,the author will analyze three stages of religious conflict governance--prevention,intervention,and handling of the aftermath;second,the author will discuss the governing entities in international religious conflict resolution.In this paper,the author will first summarize the conceptualization of religious conflict and its forms of manifestation.Then the author will describe the phases of development in the religious conflict governance mechanism and summarize the characteristics of each phase.The author will also analyze the main reasons behind today's international religious conflicts;moreover,the author will examine the conceptualization of the governance mechanism of religious conflict in international law as well as relevant governing entities which includes intergovernmental organizations,international non-governmental organizations,and third-party countries.The analysis and discussion will include three stages of the conflict-resolution process:prevention,intervention,and handling of the aftermath.In terms of intergovernmental organizations,this article mainly discusses the governance of religious conflict under the framework of international law by intergovernmental organizations,including the model that is led by the United Nations and based on the United Nations Charter.The author will comb through the mechanisms through which intergovernmental organizations intervene in and resolve conflicts peacefully and the mechanisms through which they led post-conflict reconstruction,including topics such as the judicial resolution of religious conflict,and the prosecution by the International Criminal Court of war crime,genocide crime as well as crimes against humanity.In terms of international non-governmental organizations,this article mainly examines the governance of religious conflict by religious non-governmental organizations,including their models for conflict-resolution and their dual identities as both religious organizations and non-governmental organizations.On one hand,religious non-governmental organizations utilize international laws to prevent and intervene in religious conflict;on the other hand,they utilize economic and cultural means to resolve religious conflict;they also promote regular communications and exchanges among various religions;this can prevent large-scale international religious wars from happening.In terms of third-party countries,this paper mainly discusses how nations handle religious conflict.The inter-country intervention in the religious conflicts can resolve the conflicts and maintain the peace in a rapid and effective manner.Topics including national sovereignty,international humanitarian aid,and refugees and post-war reconstruction will also be covered.China is a very important participant in the international society;it plays a critical role in the governance of international religious conflict.China has actively contributed to the governance of religious conflict through its role in inter-governmental organizations,international non-governmental organizations,and as a third-party country.Experiences gained from governing international religious conflict can also benefit the governance of religious conflict in China,which will create a beneficial environment for the continuous development and stability of China both internally and externally.
