| This paper researches on Chinese opera paintings.The term,‘Chinese opera painting’,adopted in this paper,specifically refers to related art works composed by forerunners of Chinese modern art such as Lin Fengmian,Guan Liang,Ding Yanyong and so on.These typical works focused on expressiveness of modern Western paintings and especially explored relevant issues involved in paintings of French Expressionism and German Expressionism.They embodied the forerunners’ thoughts about ‘modernity’ of paintings and their intentions of experiments on integrating Chinese and Western arts.The paper consists of an introduction and two other parts.The introduction part carries out a study on and generalizes the general situation of the expressiveness of Chinese opera painting.By tracing the features and types of ancient and contemporary opera painting and sorting the features and techniques of modern and contemporary one,the paper has explored the special historical background,intentions and directions of the contemporary opera paintings created by forerunners.Part 1 studies on the origin and inheritance of Chinese opera paintings.By carrying out comparative research on the stage rules of Chinese traditional operas and the expressiveness of modern opera paintings from a perspective of China,it illustrates what Chinese opera paintings are.Tracing the origin of the word“expression” and the history of the painting expressiveness,it has further expounded the forms and schools of French Expressionism and German Expressionism in the movement of Western modern art.It has also made a comparative study on the features of the expressiveness of those western arts and the modern opera paintings.Part 2 aims to put forward reflection and discussion on the historical significance of Chinese opera paintings by exploring the expressiveness and modernity of modern opera paintings from various aspects.The thoughts and experiments of Lin Fengmian and other Chinese artists about the issue of integration of Chinese and Western art can be seen in the process of their efforts on transferring Chinese traditional art into a modern form.So can their numerous confusions brought by the specific era.Therefore,the rethink towards painting experiments involved in the tide of global modern art movements has been raised. |
