A Contrastive Study Of The Subject-Predicate Sentence In Chinese And Kazakh Languages

This dissertation is a contrastive study of the subject——predicate sentence in modern Chinese and Kazakh language.The author has made a detailed study of the uses of the subject——predicate structures in the two languages from the aspects of syntax,semantics and pragmatics,using the two—triangles and three—levels theories as its theoretical basis and the contrastive analysis as its main research method.The dissertation consists of eleven parts.The first part is an introduction,which deals with the significance,related studies at home and abroad,and the author’s research ideas.The second part introduces the nature,functions,features,scope and sentence types of the subject——predicate structures in modern Chinese and Kazakh language.The third part is a contrastive study of the subject——predicate structures in the two languages in terms of syntactic forms and discusses the differences and similarities in the two languages.The fourth part is a contrastive study of the types of verbs and their word orders of the subject——predicate structures in the two languages.The fifth part is a contrastive study of the subject——predicate structures in the two languages which contain two objects in terms of syntactic,semantic and pragmatic aspects.The sixth part is a contrastive study of the subject——predicate structures in modern Chinese and Kazakh language when they are followed by a verbal phrase.The seventh part is a contrastive study of the subject——predicate structures in the two languages when the predicate consists of two verbs and some adverbials.The eighth part is a contrastive study of the subject—predicate structures in modern Chinese and Kazakh language when they are used to express "there is somebody or something somewhere".The ninth part is a contrastive study of the subject—predicate structures in modern Chinese and Kazakh language when the verb in the predicate is "shi" from the syntactic and semantic aspects.The tenth part is a contrastive analysis of the subject—predicate structures in the active and passive voices in the two languages.The last part is a conclusion,which summarizes the findings and suggestions for the further studies.To sum up,this dissertation has made a comprehensive and systematic study of the subject—predicate structures in modern Chinese and Kazakh language.The author hopes that this research will be helpful to the translation between the two languages and teaching of the two languages as a foreign language.
