In the 1980s,Chinese literature was ever-changing.If the literary change in the "Scar Literature","Introspection Literature" and "Reform Literature" group belonged to the new variation in the frame of political convention,the literary transformation of "Misty Poetry","Stream-of-consciousness Nove","Root-seeking Literature" and "Avant-garde Literature"group could be seen as a new form propelled by aesthetic self-discipline consciousness.From the "85 new wave",the boom of avant-garde literature lasted about 5 years.With overall turning in the 90s,most of the pioneer writers began to embrace the reality and the passion of form experiment had diminished gradually.Although the avant-garde literature becomes history,it is affecting Chinese contemporary literature and the former avant-garde writers are still the most influential writers in current Chinese literary circle.The assessment of avant-garde literature has been accompanied by differences.For example,some people think that its contribution to Chinese literature is overrated,that,avant-garde literature has been a classic in literary history relying on critics' repeated interpretation,that the concept of "pure literature" based on avant-garde literature is a negative legacy for Chinese contemporary literature,and so on.The length of 30 years has coincided with an opportunity to reaffirm the heritage of avant-garde literature.Therefore,this paper has chosen the "historic space" in the 1980s' to focus on avant-garde literature with historization and defamiliarization.Through research and analysis based on historical materials of literature,literary events and works,the paper is trying to restore the historical context of 1980s avant-garde literature,experience the passion and dream of the avant-garde literature in the form of ideology,and with "the historical sympathy" and the realistic review,to reappraise the unique value of form experiment in avant-garde literature compared to Chinese literature(culture).Besides the introduction and conclusion,this thesis consists of six chapters.The introduction mainly involves five aspects:Firstly,to introduce the reason of the topics combined with the humanistic trend of "return to the 80s".Secondly,to describe the object of study from six aspects of discourse politics,genealogy of knowledge,mental imagery,historical interpretation,narrative ethics and language style in the avant-garde literature.Thirdly,to analyze the research situation of avant-garde literature from three dimensions of historical research,thought research and text research.Fourthly,to introduce the significance,routes,methods,innovations and difficulties of the research.fifthly,to interpret two core concepts of "80s Avant-garde literature" and "ideology of form" in the thesis.The first chapter is on the humanities atmosphere of avant-garde literature in the 80s.It shows the historical context and the human ecology of avant-garde literature in the 80s from five aspects,including escaping from the overall meta-narration of revolutionary politics,carrying forward the enlightenment tradition of "May 4th " again,the cultural and political essence of aesthetic craze in the 80s,the pursuit of modernity in the reform era of China and the pioneer passion in the new change of literature.The second chapter is on the historical pedigree of avant-garde literature in the 80s.Avant-garde literature is not in a rash in the late 80s.With reference to the rebellious and independent and innovative spirit of pioneers,this chapter inspects the literary and historical origin of avant-garde discourse,avant-garde spirit,avant-garde form in Chinese contemporary literature following the context of the underground literature,misty poetry,stream-of-consciousness novels,the root-seeking Literature and avant-garde literature.The third chapter is on the language style of avant-garde literature in the 80s,focusing on these four features:First of all,the alienation from signifie makes the text a floating world of signifiant;Secondly,the strange preference to the alienation gives fantasy effect of word meaning;Thirdly,the use of auditory(sound)and visual(color)generates the rhetoric of alienation;Fourthly,the dependence on the functional experience brings the defamiliarization of the text.The fourth chapter is on the narrative ethics of avant-garde literature in the 80s.Avant-garde literature challenges the narrative rules of realistic literature.It only obeys the existing logic and the value judgment in its own fictional world through the "legislation"form of self-discipline.This chapter analyzes five aspects from the destruction of literary truth,the reset of narrative time and space,the dismantling of narrative authority,the interpretation of secret history and the manufacturing of intertextuality.The fifth chapter is on the spiritual image of avant-garde literature in the 80s.In addition to a maverick in the text form,avant-garde literature also performs a unique spirit of the image.Avant-garde is poured into the experimental passion of text form as a"meaningful form",which "means" the unique nature of the spirit image.This chapter analyzes five spiritual images--absurdity,disease,death,desire,violence which are often hit by avant-garde writers.The sixth chapter is on the cultural heritage of Avant-garde Literature in the 80s.This chapter puts forward the following views:as a literary pioneer spirit,avant-garde literature has not ended yet,but still in transition.With the aestheticization of everyday life,the interaction between avant-garde culture and mass culture will be more frequent.The distinctive features of avant-garde will be fuzzier;meanwhile,pioneer culture will also be dispersed in the mass culture.In the era of consumerism,avant-garde culture has evolved in three dimensions:commercial,interesting and media.The form experiment of avant-garde literature in the 80s has a wealth of cultural value and its enlightenment value,narrative value and aesthetic value are very precious.Based on the researcher's perceptual reading experience and rational study on avant-garde text,the epilogue answers these two questions:what the "pioneer" is and what it is for.At the same time such view is put forward:Although there are numerous flaws in the literary works of avant-garde in the 80s,or even some works have traces of imitation in writing techniques,the passion and dream of form experiment in avant-garde literature and pioneer writers' brave subversion of literary rules is still worthy of our salute in thirty years.The avant-garde is independence,freedom,and revolution as well.The avant-garde of Chinese literature should be always on the road.
