A Study On Imitating Odes Of The Chosun Period

This dissertation has two parts.The first part emphatically expounds the basic types and generation mechanism of imitating works on the basis of clearly defined concept of the object,which belongs to the comprehensive analysis theoretically.In the second part,three kinds of important topics about imitating odes of the Chosun Period are discussed through the special form.They are respectively creation of Fu in the form of Sao as an image of imitating model works,imitating odes written by Confucians as an image of imitating thoughtful works and Cifu showed feeling of spring and sad mood for autumn as an image of imitating literary works.This part is designed to focus on the perspective and to dot looking face.Cifu which rooted in China has drawn attention of Sino-literature writers in Korea in many ways.The imitating ode is just one aspect.Therefore,in order to judge the creative quality of imitating odes,we must take the standard of narrow sense to define the concept.In this article,imitating odes of the Chosun Period refers to some Cifu that created consciously based on the previous works' form or taken the specific work as a model by writers lived in the Chosun Period(1392-1910).In Korean Literary Collection in Classical Chinese and its sequel,there are more than 280 pieces of odes which conforms to this definition.After all,they can be classified in two dimensions:from the perspective of the country of original authors,it exits the distinction between imitating local odes and Chinese works,which the latter is in the majority;from the perspective of the relationship between original and imitated work,they are divided into the works that follow the example of the style,applicability and theme from the earlier authors'.It shows the diversity of the imitating odes.Literary imitation has a common creative motivation as a unique literary activity.The authors imitated because of moving,learning,and winning.Imitating odes during the Chosun Period not only reflect the writers' inherent psychology,also express the personal and social fashion and value evaluation.It notices the impact of Chuci Houyu on Korean literati's choice of the composed piece.There are two reasons for it:some scholars in the Chosun Period learned the ancient odes by Chuci Houyu for the imperial examination;Zhu Xi,the compiler of the anthology,enjoyed the exclusive status in Korean history of Confucianism,whose literary activities are valued accordingly.The ideological content is one of the important features of a series of these imitating works.It closely related to the conditions of the society at that time.In addition,the literati also attached attention to literature aesthetic value and the classic sense of original works when they imitated these odes.The classic meaning,ideological content and artistic characteristics constitute the overall pursuit and intrinsic character of imitating odes of the Chosun Period.As one of the source of Chinese literature,the paradigm of Chuci is obvious.The scholars in Korean peninsula accepted Chuci in early days.In the Chosun Period,they echoed with and chanted Qu Yuan's sadness or expressed the feeling and thought of unfair experience themselves.The criticism of Qu Sao in all kinds of literature proved their opinion on ChuCi.And the ardent imitation in both aspects of emotion and style showed the writers' agreement and contained the authors' own emotional experience.Owing to the special status of Neo-Confucianism in Korean society,the ideological significance of Cifu received attention seriously.The scholars interpreted the tradition how returned to the early in Chinese Cifu stating poets' ambitions.And they resonated in works expressed sadness by Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan.Some concerned writers give full play to social functions of Cifu,in order to Express their concern about current events and the country's situation,and reflect their sense of responsibility on all the people.Spring feeling and sad mood for antumn are the two themes in Cifu,which the source can be traced back to ChuCi.Li Bai's Chou Yang Chun Fu and Zhu Xi's Gan Chun Fu both have a great influence upon the history of Korean literature as a model for literary style and thoughtful interests.This is true in those works about autumn.And it is important that some literati can digest the traditional theme to create works highlight personal emotions.
