Comparing Chinese And Western Medicine History

This paper discusses comparatively about the history of Chinese and Western medicines from conceptual system,theoretical system and technical system perspectives,and attempts to contemplate on the development of Chinese medicine under the contemporary backgrounds with the coexisting of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine.Firstly,compare on the history of Chinese and western medicine under the conceptual system.Ancient Chinese and Western civilization is different from the view of nature,due to the different natural environment,the social mode of production,social ideology,two concepts are formed--one is harmony between the human and heaven,the other is opposite of object and self,which brings lasting impact on the development of two medicals later.Ancient Chinese and Western thinkers form the ontology based on vitality and atom respectively during the exploring of the source of world,the two concepts builds up the development direction of Chinese and western medicine directly.Monarchy strengthens in Tang and Song dynasty,theology rules in the west in middle Ages;the traditional Chinese medicine continues to develop under the traditional ideas with the booming of theory and experience;while the western which ruled by religion almost gave up medicine.In the Ming and Qing dynasties Chinese medicine have some breakthrough but was still in the traditional paradigm.Medical science was developing rapidly after the western scientific revolution.Secondly,comparing the academic history of Chinese and western medicine under the theoretical system.The early age of East and West were both in chaotic era which are full of witch doctors.The medical were developing with the progress of awareness and confidence gradually.At the same time,both medicals build up their own systems which including etiology,pathology,symptoms of diseases and the human body anatomy,etc.Chinese and Western medicine formed its own unique theories.Hereinafter we select some theories and try to analyze the reasons of the differences,for instance,comparing the interpretation of the cause by two sides.One tends to search insides to find the cause of the empirical research approach;the other promotes contact reasoning causes by external state of cognition to solve the model.In addition,the different attitudes towards anatomy in the history of Chinese and western medicine are elaborated,especially the similarities and differences between the historical fate and the academic thoughts of Visarus and Wang Qingren.Finally,this paper analyzes the differences between the two kinds of medicine on the understanding of diseases and takes flu as an example to reflect on the potential problems of modern medicine and the value of TCM syndrome differentiation.Thirdly,compare the history of medical diagnosis and treatment of Chinese and Western medicine.Under the different historical backgrounds,as the objective technology to save lives,Chinese and western medicine has developed distinctive skills in diagnosis and treatment.Chinese medicals take watching,listening and smelling,feeling the pulse as diagnostic means,while looking,touching,contacting and hearing as the western methods,they look similar but different.Such as asking in traditional Chinese medicine is a kind of skill with both medicine and humanities connotation characteristics.The indirect percussion and auscultation of western medicine is the first modern physics diagnostics.In terms of treatment,the biggest difference between Chinese and western medicine is surgery,which is total different from technology to idea.After the Song dynasty,traditional Chinese medicine almost disused the "scalpel",and Hua Tuo was once classified as an alien.Tools using have their own characteristics of Chinese and western medicine,such as gourd,acupuncture needle,porcelain bottles similar to the caduceus,syringes,glasses and considerable differences.The different statue of glasses in Chinese and western determined the "China" was nothing to do with science to some extent.In the last part in this article,the author thinks about the essence of the people in the field of Chinese and western medicine.Human is universe or machine?The different understandings of starting point in Chinese and western medicine treatment determine the big distinction of Chinese and western medicine in technology and their problems:the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine process presents involution in the characteristics,the speculative reasoning lacks of structure which cannot prove itself or make breakthrough.Complexity of the problem is a major task faced by the current medical,one-size-fits-all treatments did not radically cure diseases.To solve such problems,don't try to rule out the solution of traditional Chinese medicine immediately.Effective treatment must be rational.Traditional Chinese and western medicine should be together to explore the mysteries of life and disease hand in hand.Finally,this paper tries to considerate about the development of traditional Chinese medicine.Chinese and western medicine debate over a hundred years," connection with Chinese and western medicine","cooperation between Chinese and western medicine","integration of Chinese and western medicine" had been proposed successively,but how to combine?From the beginning of the "TCM studied from western medicine" to the later in the "western studied from TCM" which existed insufficiency." How to treat the coexisting of traditional Chinese and western medicine,especially how to treat the traditional Chinese medicine,the article points out that understanding characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine is the premise of the development it.The significant characteristic of traditional Chinese medicine is syndrome differentiation.The separation and coincide of"syndrome differentiation" and "disease differentiation".The huge contribution in the theory of traditional Chinese medicine is analyzing the syndrome.Perfecting medical model should be "not missing the symptoms when diagnosing" "not deviating when treating the disease".Of course,it is a tough job to explain and reveal the scientific connotation of traditional Chinese medicine.The development of Traditional Chinese medicine in the future needs scientific method.But there are serious problems in modern research of traditional Chinese medicine---numerous blind scientific researches still exist that do not understand the essence of traditional Chinese medicine.Based on the "treatment" of traditional Chinese medicine and scientific research of chaos as an example,analyze the essence of error deeply.I'm calling for the traditional Chinese medicine to be "capable of researching"so that it can "research and develop".Provide a reference and support for the development of contemporary Chinese medicine.
