Marine biofouling can cause high frictional resistance of ship hulls leading to higher fuel consumption and therefore"carbon emissions".Once the fouling occurs,it would cost much to remove them.The most effective approach to combate marine fouling is using antifouling coatings.With environmental concerns and low-carbon economy,development of energy-saving and drag-reducing antifouling coatings have both economic significance and social benefits.In this thesis,we have prepared two kinds of antifouling coatings based on zinc acrylate polymers and main-chain degradable silyl acrylate polymers and studied the effects of resin structure and formula design on drag reduction and antifouling performance of coatings.The thesis is summarized into the following points.(1)By using marine field test,dynamic simiulated test,surface roughness measurements and3D video,we studied the factors inluencing the antifouling performance and surface roughness of coatings.It shows that the introduction of methyl in the polymer backbone and using antifoulant particles with small and uniform size can reduce the surface roughness of coatings after hydrolysis and hence reduce the frictional resistance between coating and water.Compared with controlled depletion coating 839,the average resistance of coating based on zinc acrylate polymers is reduced by 4.2%.(2)We prepared antifouling coating based on novel main chain degradable silyl acrylate polymers and antifoulant(Cu2O/CPT).The optical pigment volume concentration(PVC),resin/rosin ratio and the amount of additives(R)have been determined by measuring the time dependence of release rate of antifoulants and adhesion of the coatings via orthogonal test design.The antifouling coating exhibits good adhesion with the connecting coating and anticorrosive primer and the coating can be conducted by using paint brush,coating roller and high-pressure airless sprayer.The system has a good antifouling performance on real ship.This antifouling coating without organic tin,DDT and other antifoulants banned by international maritime organizations has promise to find industrial applications.
