As photonic bandgap materials,photonic crystals become an important way to generate structural colors.Compared with opal photonic crystals,inverse opal photonic crystals have many advantages such as wide selectivity in variety and character of materials,easy adjustment in refractive index differences,convenient implementation on complete photonic bandgap.However,the preparation of inverse opal photonic crystals severely restricts their applications in textile field.The preparation of template is time-consuming and inefficient,and the remove of template needs high temperature calcination,dissolution or solvent corrosion,all of which are not suitable for textile substrates.Based on this,in our study,ZrO2 inverse opal photonic crystals with structural colors were successfully fabricated on textile substrates,in which two interface joint self-assembly and ultraviolet irradiation were applied in fabricating and removing the opal photonic crystal template with nanospheres as the structural units,and dipping method and digital ink-jet printing method were used to filling ZrO2 particles.That may provides some thoughts and methods for the construction of the inverse opal photonic crystals and the related regulation and application of the structural coloration on textiles.Our study includes the following four aspects:?1?Opal photonic crystal template was constructed on textile substrates by two interfaces joint self-assembly method,and the related self-assembly process,mechanism and conditions of nanospheres on textile substrate were studied and optimized.?2?By studying the effects of heat,pH and ultraviolet irradiation on various opal templates,an effective method for removing opal templates from textile substrates was established,and its removal mechanism was clarified.?3?ZrO2 inverse opal photonic crystals with structural colors were constructed on textile substrate by dipping-filling process combined with ultraviolet irradiation method.The dipping-filling process and ultraviolet irradiation conditions were optimized,and the optical properties and structural color regulation of the inverse opal photonic crystals were studied.?4?ZrO2 inverse opal photonic crystals with structural colors were constructed on textile substrates by digital inkjet printing-filling combined with ultraviolet irradiation technology.The regulation of ink system and the effects of digital inkjet printing-filling methods on the structural colors were studied,and the construction and regulation mechanisms of the inverse opal structure were investigated.The research results show that:?1?Two interface joint self-assembly can fabricate ordered opal photonic crystal templates with three dimensional face centered cubic?FCC?structure on polyester fabrics.The self-assembly process can be considered as the combination of interface self-assembly between air and colloidal dispersion,and gravitational sedimentation between colloidal dispersion and fiber substrates.The main driving forces are capillary force and gravity,respectively,but the former is dominant.?2?Heat treatment and pH regulation are difficult to effectively remove PSt,P?St-MAA?,PMMA and SiO2 opal templates from textile substrates.Under certain ultraviolet irradiation conditions,PMMA opal template on textile substrates can be completely removed due to the photochemical reaction of PMMA macromolecules under ultraviolet light.?3?With PMMA and ZrO2 as the template material and filling material,ZrO2 inverse opal photonic crystals with FCC porous structure on textile substrate can be fabricated by both dipping-filling and digital inkjet printing-filling combined with ultraviolet irradiation method,showing bright structural color and iridescence effect.The structural color of ZrO2 inverse opal photonic crystal can be tuned by changing the particle size of the template.?4?Compared with the dipping-filling method,the digital inkjet printing-filling method is much faster and more efficient,which can achieve drop-on-demand.In the digital inkjet printing-filling method,one-step printing is much more convenient than two-step printing.
