Agricultural Exhibitions' Influence On Economic Development Of The Host City

Agricultural exhibition,the combination of exhibition economy and modern agriculture,is currently in a period of vigorous development.For an agricultural country,the development of agricultural exhibition plays unusually significant impact on China's economic.However,the research on the impact of agricultural exhibition economy is not systematic and in-depth,the research on the internal mechanism and way of the impact to the host city's economic by organizing agricultural exhibitions and the relevant empirical study are relatively rare,too.Economic development is mainly embodied in the following two aspects,i.e.:economic growth and industrial structure optimization.This research is based on the characteristics of agricultural exhibition,association of the theory of economic growth and factors affecting its growth,optimization of industrial structure and factors its optimization,industrial relevance and its effect.The agricultural exhibition is an emerging industrial form with the characteristics of resource aggregation,the form of industrial clusters,the nature of platform economy,the medium of proximity and the purpose of agricultural development.These above characteristics show that the impact of agricultural exhibition on the economic development of the host city is more complicated and more important.This thesis theoretically analyzes the contribution of agricultural exhibitions from both economic growth and industrial structure,and validates the relationship among agricultural exhibition,economic growth and industrial structure transformation through time series data,and quantifies the agricultural exhibition's multiplier effect on the economy of the host city through sectional data.The impact of agricultural exhibitions on the economic growth of the host city is achieved through both direct and indirect approaches.Five direct ways,that is,through the participants'expenditure in the agricultural exhibition activities,the investors'investment and the amount of trade reached,direct or indirect increase of the local enterprise capital investment,thereby stimulating economic growth;and advocacy of agricultural new technology and results of the transformation promote the region's factor productivity,and ultimately affect regional economic growth.Three indirect ways,that is,agricultural exhibition activities will accelerate industrial agglomeration of the host city,optimize the industrial structure,and enhance the regional comprehensive influence,and play indirectly positive impact on economic growth.The mechanism of the above-mentioned ways mainly lies in the fact that the agricultural exhibition activities bring the economies of scale,produce the cost reduction effect,broaden the supply channels of the elements,promote the market competition effect,enhance the regional economic integration,promote the cultivation of the industrial growth pole and form the organizational optimization effect etc.Then,the empirical study on the relationship between the development of agricultural exhibition and the economic growth of the host city is carried out.Based on the related research,this paper discusses the specific relationship between the development of China?Shouguang?International Vegetable Technology Exposition?abbriviated as CIVTE?and the economic growth of Shouguang.The results show that there is a long-term equilibrium relationship among the development of agricultural exhibition activities and the economic growth of the undertakings and the economic growth of various industries.At the 1%significance level,there is a one-way Granger causality in the development of agricultural exhibitions on the first industry economic growth.At the level of 10%,there is a one-way Granger causality in the development of agricultural exhibitions on tertiary industry economic growth and regional economic growth.Agricultural exhibition has a significant impact on regional economic growth,but the impact of economic growth on agricultural exhibition development is not obvious.The effects of agricultural exhibition on the industrial structure of the host city are as the following three parts:across the three industries on the content,with long and wide industrial chain on the link,and integration with a number of industries in the form,and these effects are achieved through the two paths as followed:Firstly,the development of agricultural exhibition and its associated services industry itself is the result of the proportion of the tertiary industry;secondly,the agricultural exhibition activities upgrade the agricultural industry.Agricultural exhibition activities affect the evolution of a regional industrial structure process and direction through the impacts of market demand,factor distribution,regional trade,technological progress,and industrial opportunities.An empirical analysis conducted through the statistical method shows that the growth rate of CIVTE will have a positive correlation with Shouguang industry transformation degree.Cointegration test results show that the development of CIVTE will have an important role in promoting the transformation of Shouguang City in the long term,CIVTE will be signed for every additional1 percentage point,then industrial transformation of Shouguang City can increase 1.15percentage points.In order to further quantify the contribution of the agricultural exhibition to the economy of the host city,this thesis,based on the empirical evidence of the impact of the exhibition economic at home and abroad,the researchers investigate the attendants,including the buyers,exhibitors,sellers and tourists,of 17^th CIVTE,and confirm their expenditures.With the Input-Output Model,the exposition's direct and indirect economic impacts on Shouguang city are assessed.The direct and indirect economic effects at CIVTE are 2.92 billion yuan and3.88 billion yuan respectively,or 6.80 billion yuan in total.The sequence according to the contribution of the participants is as follows:ordinary visitors,exhibitors,buyers and sellers.Based on input-output analysis,CIVTE will drive the seven industry sectors according to the size of the influence.Among all the input sectors in the input and output table,the top ten industries influenced by CIVTE are showed.It fully embodies the primary,second and tertiary industries are widely driven by the agricultural exhibition.The above results indicated that the agricultural exhibition has significant economic effect.It will be tested by the outcome of the farmers'perceived economic effect of the agricultural exhibition.Based on the analysis of relevant literature and the basic theory,the paper putforward the theoretical assumptions and design the questionnaire,choose 9 villages at different distances from the venues and survey the farmers,and then have descriptive statistical analysis on the data,build measuring model and strctual model and then analyze and test them.Finally,the research results of the economy influence of agricultural exhibition from the farmers'perception are obtained.Firstly,agricultural exhibition has significant economic effect which has four dimensions,including the agricultural production,farmers'income,industrial development and regional economic environment.Secondly,the four dimensions of economic impact have diffierent correlation on overall cognition,and the farmers pay great attention to the impact on their production.Thirdly,the willingness to participate of farmers is positively affecting their willingness to support.The perceived economic impact is positively affecting the farmers'support behavior,and the economic impact perception of farmers is the decisive factor in supporting behavior.Based on the above conclusions,the policy suggestions to improve the economic impact of China's agricultural exhibition have been put forward in this paper.At the macro construction,the planning policies to enhance the impact of economic growth and industrial structure,some supporting policies and instruments are also proposed.At the micro construction,some development advice to play a greater influence on the farmers is gived.
