New Energy Vehicle(NEV)industry is an effective way dealing with global energy crisis and environment issues,and is also an important path achieving low carbon target and green development.As one of the ten key focuses of "Made in China 2025”,the development of NEV industry is also an important carrier for the future car industry being electric,intelligence,networked and shared.While the industry is developing rapidly and the market competition is becoming stronger,business models also grew out of nothing and became more and more innovatived.Since the demonstration project "10 cities,1000 vehicles" was launched,many business model projects and innovation cases emerged in many big cities covering private market,public transportation area,and sharing market as well.Meanwhile,theoretical researches on business model innovation for NEV industry is just at beginning stage,compared to the reality that diverse business model cases have already emerged.Business model innovation for China's NEV industry is a very complicated system,while both the characteristics of NEV industry and the dynamic evolution process and innovation path triggered by multiple business model changes in the dynamic changing circumstances should be considered.The thesis reviewed the theoretical research on NEV industry,business model innovation and business model triggering mechanism.At the same time the thesis also analyzed in depth the developing status and process of China's NEV industry and business model innovation.In the theoretical research part,the thesis constructed a research framework on the dynamic evolution of business model innovation in China's NEV industry,including 3 parts:Evolution Base,Impetus Mechanism,and Evolution Result.In the Evolution Base part,based on Strategy Tripod Theory and technology innovation perspective,and considering the characteristics of NEV industry and the dynamic process of business model in China,the thesis came up with 4 major innovation impetuses of business model innovation,i.e.institutional conditions,industrial structure,resource base,and technological factors.Afterwards in the Impetus Mechanism part,the thesis proposed the concept of System Dynamic Theory to analyze the impetus system of business model,and used "causes-effects feedback loop" to analyze the 4 sub-system and the main factors inside.Thus,the thesis proposed Analytic Hierarchy Process to construct an Hierarchical Structure Model for business model innovation impetus,so it can tell how different innovation impetus combines together and how much each of them have affections on business model innovation in different industry stages considering different types of business models.The Evolution Result part focuses on the dynamic evolution process and innovation path of business model.The thesis analyzed the dynamic process and innovation paths of business model innovation respectively from 2 angels,industry level and city level(Beijing,Hangzhou and Shenzhen),the results turned out that 5 innovation paths can be concluded,the innovation characteristics of different cities and core actors can be distinguished.Based on theoretical and empirical study,the thesis finally seleceted Hangzhou as the city case and Hangzhou Mini-bus Model as the business model case,so that the dynamic evolution process and the innovation path of business model innovation in Hangzhou's NEV industry can be analyzed,while Hangzhou Mini-bus Model is also studied and analyzed in depth.By studying the cases,the thesis perfected the framework to be more innovative.Through the whole research,the thesis came out with conclusions as follow:(1)Business model innovation of China's NEV industry is affected by 4 systems-institutional conditions,industrial structure,resource base and technological factors,and the main factors inside these systems.These factors' impetuses are changing while theirselves are also changing following the eolution of NEV industry.(2)NEV business model innovation have different characteristics in different stages and have different forces on different types of business models affecting by the changing innovation impetus and its mechanism.(3)By analyzing and concluding the characteristics of dynamic process of NEV business model innovation,the thesis found out 5 innovation paths for NEV business model innovation:from traditional sale to diversity business model,the subsititute and synergysim between charging and battery swipping,from leasing-only business to product-oriented business model,the innovation path of car-producers' car sharing strategy,and the innovation path of non-car-producers' car sharing strategy.(4)Business model innovation comparison at city level shouws that,the network in Beijing,Shenzhen and Hangzhou are different,they formed as an innovation network leading by BAIC,an innovation network leading by Potevio and BYD,and an innovation network sharing by many actors.(5)The case study on Hangzhou and Hangzhou Mini-bus model reveal that,the dynamic process and innovation path of NEV business model innovation in Hangzhou almost covered most features in China,and Mini-bus model shows the importance of policies,industry chains and city characteristics for business model innovation.Thus,the paper proposes that,enterprises should promote business model innovation by considering alliances,technology innovation,public awareness as well as policy changes.
