Looking ahead to the year 2020 and beyond, the 5th generation mobile communica-tion(5G)will address the challenges of differentiated performance indicators in a variety of application scenarios. In terms of the application scenarios,5G will meet the diverse needs of traditional mobile communications, and the special needs of the vehicle-to-vehicle(V2V)communications in ultra-reliable low-latency scenario and the millimeter-wave(mm-wave)device-to-device(D2D)communications in massive machine scenario. The development of 5G relies on the V2V and mm-wave D2D communications, and the design of communication system requires a deep investigation of wireless chan-nels in typical V2V and mm-wave D2D scenarios. As the physical wireless channel is the medium over which communication happens, its properties significantly affect the performance of communication system. In the design of V2V and mm-wave D2D com-munication system, channel models are required to describe the complex propagation channel.Even though numerous research has been conducted on V2V and mm-wave D2D communications, however, there are still following limitations:In terms of the scientif-ic research, the current research on V2V and mm-wave D2D wireless channels fail to give insights into the fundamental law of radio wave propagation. In terms of the chan-nel modeling theory and methodology, the current research on V2V and mm-wave D2D channel modeling theory and methodology can not provide complete channel models for the system designers. In order to solve above problems, this dissertation investigates the channel modeling theory and methodology of V2V and mm-wave D2D communications. The main works are as follows:1)The non-wide sense stationary uncorrelated scattering model for V2V communica-tions:In terms of the time-varying non-stationary V2V channel, the first-order two-state Markov model is proposed to describe the "birth and death" of the taps.In terms of the correlated scattering V2V channel, the correlated scattering model is proposed with the Cholesky decomposition and the relationship between Gaussian,Weibull and Uniform random variables, which helps to enrich the scattering channel model-ing theory. The accuracy of the model is verified by the V2V channel measurements.2)The three-dimensional cluster-based model for V2V communications:In terms of the time-varying clusters in V2V channel, the visiblility region model is proposed with the Poisson distributed clusters. For the lack of cluster-based model, the three dimensional cluster-based multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)model is estab-lished,which promotes the further development of dynamic channel modeling theory. The accuracy of the model is verified by the V2V channel measurements.3)The fading models and dispersion models for mm-wave D2D communications:For the lack of research on channel propagation characteristics, the channel measure-ments based on the 30 GHz frequency and 1 GHz bandwidth are conducted for the indoor and outdoor scenarios, and the fading models are proposed for the mm-wave D2D channel. For the lack of research on the time and space domain of mm-wave D2D channel, the rotating antenna is used to receive the signal from different direc-tions,and the dispersion models are proposed for the mm-wave D2D channel, which improve the accuracy of the parameter extraction for channel modeling.4)The geometry-based models for mm-wave D2D communications:For the lack of research on geometry-based model for mm-wave D2D communications, the two-dimensional(2D)two-ring model is proposed to describe the 2D scatterers, then, the three-dimensional(3D)two-cylinder and two-sphere models are proposed.Based on the geometry models, the MIMO channel model is proposed, and the time-space property is discussed for mm-wave D2D channel, which is a theoretical foundation for the expansion and application of mm-wave D2D channel models. To sum up,this dissertation conducts a comprehensive research on V2V and mm-wave D2D communications. In the object level, this dissertation supports propaga-tion tools for the application of V2V and mm-wave D2D communications in 5G.In the methodology level, this dissertation presents the transplantable and transformable methodologies for channel modeling in various scenarios. In the application level, this dissertation supports the reliable network design and information transmission for V2V and mm-wave D2D communications.
