The Overall Conception Of Space

At present,‘China' has been regarded as a synonym for the largest commodity manufacturing base worldwide.A big development of the productive force under the impetus of the large-scale production and big capital has also become the basic image feature of China today.Currently,China is going through a social transitional period,which highlights the contradiction between human and nature under three big relations of massive industrial production,network informationization and urbanization.All the contradictions mentioned above are unprecedented in terms of scale and overall characteristic,and the urban public space of contemporary China shows subversive social facts.At the macro level,the development idea of public space is of intense passiveness and closure and of severe non-correspondence and imbalance with human demand trend,with the features of established patternization and homogenization and evident utility in the practical process.However,at the micro level,individual lives are the main part of space,and the idiosyncrasy and diversity of individuals need to be expanded further in the culture evolution of urban public space rather than separating in symbolization.The evolvement of civilization also reveals the evolution of academic theories and ideas.That the urban public space of China which is in its transition period at present should not be a container of alienated humans has become a major and widely concerned issue from the perspectives of culture,technology,practice,etc.The thesis highlights the reconstruction of the humanity of public space within Chinese urban system in the social transformation period.The thesis discusses how to make the relationship between humanand space become balanced in communication and interaction.It also put forwards academic requirements for the viewpoint and method of the research.At the level of social culture,the thesis relates how to let the comfortableness of individual lives in the spatial agglomeration not be seriously impaired but be in virtuous circulation instead,which should be viewed from the perspective of humans,the main body of the space.At the level of academic comprehensiveness,the thesis expounds how to avoid the formed closed trajectory,which needs to break boundaries and to study from the perspective of inter-disciplines;at the level of social practice.The thesis discusses how to let the humanity of public space in an urban system contribute to the overall social development and relates that ways of social practice of the academic viewpoint should be fulfilled from the perspective of whole-course intervention.All in all,the theoretical formation and social practice of the academic viewpoint of overall space both point to the sharing of urban public space and the multiple relationships of space culture.With the tenets of ‘ People oriented ' and‘ Realizing indiscriminate development ',the urbanization movement has reached an intersection after running for about 30 years.The relationship between human and public space is not of binary opposition,which has increasingly become consensus of Chinese government and academia.The contemporary public space is a transitional,persistent,comprehensive growing system,and the academic thought of ‘overall space' does not mean a simple addition of all the components and formation modes of public space but is of a dialectical concept instead: not only reflects concrete real space,but also seeks for transcending it.As for overall space,which is a viewpoint of research in the development of public space,I try to comb out its related background,expound its implication and features,grasp its property in the China ' s transitional progress,and elaborate the research in its social practice.Public space needs to embody its value in reality,thereby achieving the objective basis shared by the public.The network relationships constituted by humans and values and relevant factors contained in space will bring out new connotations and cultural values of overall space,which is determined by the human-space intergrowth structure of public space.The thinking mode of sole value is no longer desirable,and the future of the relationship between human and urban public space caused by expansion and flow is bound to be open and multi-elemental in the social transformation period,and cognizing and balancing these space values are the fundamental orientation of the academic viewpoint of overall space.
