Mining city contribute a lot to the country for economic construction and development. However,it can also produce serious environmental air pollution problems.Inhalable particulate matter?PM?is a major pollutant in the atmosphere of mining cities. The geochemical characteristics of particles, such as concentration, microscopic morphology and chemical composition have direct link on the human health and environmental quality. Therefore,it is necessary to study it especially in a mining city,to provide scientific basis for the treatment of atmospheric pollution,it has a great significance for the sustainable development of mining cities. In this paper,we selected the Panzhihua city, which is a typical mining city in southwest China,as the research area to investigate the geochemical characteristics of atmospheric inhalable particulate matter?PM?by using ICP-MS,SEM-EDX,IC and hot /light carbon analyzer. This research was supported by the National Science and Technology Cooperation Program?2013DFA21690?and the National Natural Science Foundation of China?41273124?,and the following results and recognition were obtained:?1?The annual average concentration variation of PM10 from 2002 to 2014 in Panzhihua City showed a decreasing trend year by year; The concentration of SO2 and NO2 showed “increase – reduce” alternating development, the overall trend was increasing year by year. The industrial area has the highest concentration of species in dry seasons.?2?A multivariate regression model for PM2.5 related factors in Panzhihua was constructed. The model is used to predict the PM2.5 concentration in Panzhihua city in2014,and the prediction results are in good agreement with the actual monitoring data.?3?Five typical single particles namely aluminosilicatemineral particles, sulfate particles, coal fly ash, biomass burning particles, metal particles and unrecognizable fine particles were identified in the PM10 and PM2.5 in Panzhihua city by using of SEM.Based on the results of EDX and suing the the P?X?method, there are 9mineral particles were indentified.?4?In Comparison with other cities in China and southwest atmospheric background monitoring station, the concentration of EC in inhalable particulate matter in Panzhihua was significantly higher than that in other cities, which means the primary pollution source contribution carbonaceous particles.?5?The concentration of inorganic water-soluble ions in the particles were followed the order of: SO42-,NH4+> Ca2 +,Na + > K +,NO3-> Cl-,F-.NH4 + and Ca2+ions are the highest concentrations of cations,SO42-is the highest concentration of anions.?6?The concentrations of 20 kinds of trace elements? As,Ba,Bi,Cd,Co,Cr,Cu,Mn,Ni,Pb,Sb,Sc,Sr,Th,Ti,Tl,U,V,Zn,and Fe?in PM10 and PM2.5 were analyzed by ICP-MS in 2014.The results indicated that Fe,Zn,Ti,Pb,Mn,V,Cr and Cu are the main constituent elements of Panzhihua atmospheric particles.?7?Metal particles had the highest health risk for men,and then followed by women, with minimal health risks for children.Among the studied metals,Cr and Mn have the higher risk levels than others.
