Interpretation On The Origins Of Chu Characters With Similar Or The Same Structures

Over the course of studies on Chu characters, certain misinterpretations occurfrequently as a result of various reasons, among which misinterpretations caused by thesimilar or the same structures are more serious. Therefore, those Chu characters withsimilar or the same structures must be paid close attention to in the studies of Chucharacters.In the previous studies, some scholars have given attention to the phenomenonthat some Chu characters share similar or the same structures. However, they onlyfocus on isolated phenomena and fail to carry out a systematic arrangement andresearch. In recent years, with the continuously published relevant materials and theever-deepening research efforts, the interpretations of Chu characters have obtainedgreat achievements. Under such a background, conditions for the systematicarrangement and research of Chu characters become mature gradually. In view of this,we focus on the systematic arrangement and research of those Chu characters withsimilar or the same structures. This thesis is mainly divided into two parts:The first part is the general theory, which firstly describes the importance ofconducting study on the unearthed materials and the relevant interpretation methods ofancient Chinese characters, then sums up the reasons for the misinterpretations of Chucharacters, and finally lists and illustrates some Chu characters which share similar orthe same structures as well as analyzes their causes.The second part is the monographic study, which discusses some quite controversialChu characters. The structures and interpretations of some Chu characters remaincontroversial, largely due to their similar or the same structures. This thesis launchessome discussions on the basis of related research results in the academic field to givereasonable explanations of those controversial Chu characters in terms of theirstructures and interpretations.
