The calligraphy is the traditional culture and art of China. As the home country of Chinese characters calligraphy, Chinese calligraphy art is influence on Japan. Japanese calligraphy is in Chinese characters as the carrier by Baekje into Japan in the ancient society. Calligraphy is itself a form of text, this feature makes the calligraphy education was the most basic content of education.Japanese calligraphy education began in the introduction of Chinese characters. Abstract previously, calligraphy education is society as an important means to improve the cultivation. Royal and aristocratic society laid the foundation of traditional calligraphy and calligraphy education solid, Wu family of noble culture identity and respected, the Japanese calligraphy education through changing times complicated and inheritance inherited. Royal calligraphy education, aristocratic family school and family, and two of the Wu family education concept, constitute the basic content of the Japanese calligraphy education in Japan before, cultivation of ethnic culture tradition. This tradition in the Edo era with the development of educational institutions and the increasing cultural needs of the whole society to gain popularity in Japan. The calligraphy education is as one of the basic content of education to be recognized by all sectors of society.Since1868, with the introduction of the hard pen writing tools, practical and artistic calligraphy education has become a new topic. After Japan’s defeat in1945, calligraphy education because of its traditional culture essence, once questioned, negation. At this time, before cultured on culture, tradition and the family sense of traditional calligraphy circles become important forces to support the calligraphy education. In the joint efforts of the calligraphy circles, educational circles, the calligraphy education can be realized. The contemporary Japanese calligraphy education through school education and social education in two places, presents the development status of multi-level, Pyramid, built by the popularization of education, occupation education, art education form of calligraphy education system. Japanese calligraphy education in the history of the development process, presents many characteristics, the characteristics is to grasp the law of historical development, understand the current status on the basis of. Undeniably, there are many success of Japanese calligraphy education, especially with a variety of educational function, from the "traditional" and to find the combination of "modern", the calligraphy education play value in the field of education itself and social aspects, and get development and vigor in each historical period. Calligraphy is a form of language, is the most elegant tool to convey the information, the heritage of civilization. Japanese calligraphy education is the education idea, the service from the traditional and modern Japanese society and get along swimmingly with each other, become a successful example of Japanese absorption and transformation of Chinese civilization.In this paper, based on the elaboration and the analysis on the historical process of the development of the Japanese calligraphy education, summarizes its characteristics, to explore its educational function and its value. And in retrospect to the development process of China’s calligraphy education at the same time, through the study of Japanese calligraphy education, provides the historical experience and lessons which can be used for reference for China’s traditional culture education and the education of calligraphy.
