The problems of urban construction and protection of cultural relics buildingshas become increasingly serious in the urbanized advancement. It has becomevery important and pending problems to protect the ancient buildings asimproving the development of cities. The monolithic movement technique is aneffective way to solve the contradictions. If the ancient buildings can be integrallymoved to the plan position, it not only can retain the original appearance of ancientarchitecture and protect the ancient buildings completely, but also it can meet therequirements of urban planning. Owing to their long history, the original data ofdesign and construction for ancient buildings were lost. At the same time, the integrityof the structure is always very weak. So more factors should be considered in ancientbuilding monolithic movement. At present, there are few examples of ancient buildingmonolithic movement. The complete design theory has not been formed, and thetheoretical analysis and research on ancient building monolithic movement is less. The monolithic movement project of ancient building complex is taken as anexample, the entity model is established by SAP2000finite element structural analysissoftware to analyze dynamic response of the structure and calculate the internal forceand deformation of underpinning structure. It can also analyze the superstructurevibration period and acceleration response at the start-up phase. It is shown that theinternal force of underpinning structure is less than the bearing capacity, theSettlement values are within the safe range in SAP2000analysis results. It can beconcluded that the mortise-tendon joints (in the wooden structure) has a significantinfluence in improving the energy dissipation capacity, prolonging the structural freevibration period; minimizing the dynamic response of structure. The acceleration ofall the joints tends to be in consistent under the dynamic force effect. The buildingstructure has enough safety capacity within the right displacement margin for thejoints. Many key techniques has been researched with the engineering practice, such asancient building foundation integral underpinning technique, track sharing movementtechnique, monolithic movement steering technique, on curved track movingtechnique, efficient long distance movement technique, and the technique of90degrees rotation at original place. Finally, the key points of designing and construction for ancient building monolithic movement is systematically elaborated. The schemeand implementation measure for ancient building monolithic movement are studied.
