To meet self-energy required in sewage sludge drying and pyrolysis and sought forways on utilization of pyrolysis products, co-pyrolysis behavior and two-stage catalysisbehavior of sewage sludge and mixture with coal were carried out by thermo-gravimetricanalysis (TGA), one-stage or two-stage continuous pyrolysis furnace.The interaction ofsewage with coal, catalysis cracking of volatile phase, energy balance analysis andproducts utilization were discussed. The results showed it can meet self-energy requiredby co-pyrolysis of sewage sludge with coal and improve products yield, it also verifiedthe presence of interaction of sludge with coal in co-pyrolysis process. Ni/molecular sievecatalysts can turn pyrolysis liquids into clean combustible gas; sludge-char can be used assewage treatment agent, fuel and soil improvement. While the optimal operatingconditions and product characteristics with the bench experiment are nearly coincident, itwas feasible that pilot-scale sludge pyrolysis device systems could be assembled together.
