Chaotic cryptography is a new interdisciplinary of nonlinear science and cryptology. It isfound that spatiotemporal chaos is suitable for cryptography; therefore, the research ofspatiotemporal chaos and its applications has theoretical significance and application value.Secure communication, cryptanalysis, spatiotemporal chaotic systems and encryptionapplications are deeply investigated in this paper. The main achievements are summairzed asfollows:(1)Arnold Coupled Logistic Map Lattice (ACLML) is proposed and obtained bysubstitution the adjacent coupling of Arnold cat map coupling. The ACLML model containsless periodic windows, less mutual information between chaotic sequences of lattices, largerspace of parameters for holding chaotic features and spatial universality of chaotic features.Mixed Linear-Nonlinear Coupled Logistic Map Lattice (MLNCML) is obtained by combiningthe spatial adjacent coupling and spatial non-linear coupling. An image encryption schemebased on the MLNCML system is presented. Its performance veirfies that the MLNCMLsystem is suitable for cryptography.(2)The security of bit-level chaotic image encryption scheme proposed by Zhu et al. isanalyzed. The lfaws of Arnold cat map and logistic map in Zhu’s scheme are found. Anadversary analysis of Zhu,s scheme and the corresponding cracks of one round encryption, random rounds encryptions and completed multiple enciyptions are proposed. Themethodology for avoidance of these flaws is presented including an improved scheme.(3)Anti-noises chaotic secure communication scheme is studied. Based on parametermodulation chaotic synchronization, the secure communication scheme is designed. ICA isemployed in the scheme to filter the Gaussian white noises in the channel. Therefore, theprotected information which is modulated in the parameter of chaotic systems can be securetransmitted...
