In this thesis, we develop advanced techniques and concept for direction of arrival(DOA) estimation and polarization. These techniques have been developed in order to es-timate both direction of arrival and polarization of non-circular signal sources. First, wepropose a DOA estimation method using the fourth-order cumulant (FOC-DCI), which canbe viewed as a cumulant domain DCI (Diagonally loaded Conjugate correlation matrix In-verse power method). This method does not require any eigendecomposition of the cumu-lant matrix of the received data and does not require source enumeration. It also eliminatesthe need for knowledge of the spatial characteristics of the noise and interferences. Com-puter simulation results are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed ap-proach and compare them to the standard DCI. The Second part another method for DOAestimation of polarized electromagnetic sources impinging on a six-component vec-tor-sensor array. The proposed method that estimates the parameters based on the se-cond-order generalized DCI method. By computing the mean square error for differentscenarios, the performance of this method is compared to Polarimetric-MUSIC. It shownthat our method outperforms Polarimetric-MUSIC. |
