With the rapid development of information technology and computer networking, network-based control technique is playing a more and more important role in real sys-tems. Moreover, many systems are connected with each other through information net-working, which correspondingly brings out much randomness, nonlinearity, and com-plexity. Due to the facts above, the classical and modern control and filtering theory can not meet the increasing requirements of complex stochastic systems(CSS). Hence, much attention has been paid to the control, filtering and applications investigation problems for CSS.Based on the existed work, this dissertation is concerned with the investigation of CSS and its applications. The contents mainly includes the consensus filtering problems via sensor networks, the synchronization problems for uncertain chaotic systems and stochastic complex networks, and the applications of stochastic control and filtering theory in the tele-operation systems. The contribution is mainly threefold:(1) Based on the existed results of filtering via multiple sensor nodes and sensor networks with fixed topology, the consensus H∞filtering problem is investigated for a class of stochastic systems, of which the sensor networks is subjected to varying topolo-gies governed by a ergodic Markov process. The sufficient conditions for the existence of the consensus filters are attained, and the procedure of the filtering algorism is also proposed.(2)The adaptive synchronization problem is investigated for a class of general poly-topic uncertain chaotic systems, a discontinuous and a continuous adaptive law are pro-posed, both of which are effective for the synchronization between the master and slave chaotic systems. Due to the fact that more and more complex networks are subjected to networked properties, the synchronization problem is investigated for a class of complex networks with networked coupling channels. Conditions under which the investigated stochastic complex networks are synchronized are proposed correspondingly.(3) Due to the fact that tele-operation system is a class of nonlinear networked systems in nature connected through communication networks, the approach of control and filtering for CSS could be extended to the synchronization investigation of tele-operation systems. In this dissertation, a class of mass-damper tele-operation system and a class of master-slave tele-operation system which satisfies the Euler-Lagrange e-quations are investigated separately, both of which are subjected to stochastically time- varying delays induced by the communication networks. Sufficient conditions are pro-posed under which robust synchronization or synchronization with disturbance attenu-ation level γ in the mean square could be guaranteed.Numerical examples are performed to illustrate the results above. In the final, a summary is given and some potential future work is presented.
