In recent years, with the great advances in micro electro-mechanical (MEMS) technology, wireless communication technology and multi-sensor technology, sensor nodes which sense theenvironment, process data and communicate each other by wireless channel have been widelyused in many applications. Therefore, wireless sensor networks (WSN) also have a wide rangeof applications. Due to the low power supply, computing power and communication capabilityof sensor nodes, how to effectively monitor the environment for a long period of time is a greatchallenge for WSN researchers. This thesis abstracts complex mine environment into a long andnarrow region with big measure variance. The thesis firstly analyses node energy consumptionmodel and the radio frequency (RF) signal propagation model, then studies the energyconsumption balance and node localization of linear WSN by using optimization theory, multidimensional scaling technology, expectation-maximization algorithm and the particle filteralgorithm. The algorithm of optimal forwarding distance of non-uniform deployment, thedeployment strategy of node interleaving placement, the algorithm of distance adjustment ofadjacent nodes, the strategy of data forwarding with energy balance for the linear WSN areproposed. The node localization algorithm based on multidimensional scaling and extendedKalman filter and node tracking algorithm based on particle filter are also presented.Effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by simulation or experiments, which providestheoretical and practical basis for the linear network applications.
