As an effective way of Ideological and political education in college students,mental health education has been formed education modes in Chinese characteristics through more than thirty years of reform and opening up, had new content and methods of education, and set up a team of teachers which contained full-time and part-time professionals. The psychological quality of college students has been steadily. With the deepening of reform and opening up, social transformation and change which is complex has carried on in the political, economic, cultural, educational and other aspects. So that it has put forward higher requirements to the development of college students. Also it has promoted the traditional mental health education to update the concept, form and content. Study on Mental Health Education of College Students Since Reform and Opening up which used the literature method, survey and comparative research, attempts to clarify the connotation, characteristics, achievements and problems of mental health education of college students since the reform and opening up, explore the countermeasures to enhance the effect of mental health education of college students. On the one hand, this research can deepen the theory of mental health education of college students which has China characteristics, and expand the content of Ideological and political education of college students. On the other hand,it can promote the development of activities in mental health education for college students, enhance the effectiveness of mental health education of college students, and train the psychological quality of firm and indomitable of college students.Chapter 1 explores the basic issues of mental health education in college students including the connotation of mental health and mental health education, connotation ofmental health education in college students, and the characteristics and effects of mental health education in college students. The mental health education has four characteristics: basic, full, interactive and targeted. Because of the unique characteristic of mental health education, it could contribute to the goals of ideological and political education, lay the foundation for healthy of college students, encourage college students to develop the potential, and become the indispensable content of education in the life of college students.Chapter 2 studies the necessity and importance of mental health education in college students. From the aims and ways of training students, the article shows the common aspiration of the universities and society. From the view of necessity, mental health education is the request to train qualified builders and reliable successors of socialism, the need to improve the quality of higher education, and the internal need to promote their development in college students. From the view of importance, mental health education is not only an important task of ideological and political education, but also the requirement of improving the psychological quality requirements, and the prerequisites of creating collective psychological condition.Chapter 3 examines the historical process and the experience of development of mental health education in college students from the reform and opening up. As a clue of the important events in the development of mental health education in college students, the article is divided into three stages. The stage of recovery in mental health education in college students: from the early 1980 s until 1993, the the scientific status of psychology has been restored. Mental health education gradually has aroused the attention of scholars and educators. Counseling and other mental health education has recovered gradually. The stage of exploration in mental health education in college students: from 1994 to 2000, the "Several Opinions of the CPC Central Committee on Further Strengthening and Improving Moral Education in Schools" has cleared the important content of mental health education in moral education, and has been a symbol of the exploratory stage in mental health education. The stage of development in the mental health education in college students: since 2001, the government has issueddocuments to emphasize the importance and necessity of the. As the symbol of systems from the management to the teaching, mental health education has entered a stage of development which is standardized and institutionalized. Since the reform and opening up, the development of mental health education has accumulated valuable experience in the educational objectives, tasks, content, and approaches. It has pointed the development path in the future in five aspects. Firstly, it must be based on scientific theory as a guide. Secondly, it must have a comprehensive system for the guarantee.Thirdly, it must be closed to the practice of students. Fourthly, it needs highly qualified faculties. Fifthly, it must have a good ambience.Chapter 4 investigates the problem and reasoning of mental health education since the reform and opening. In December 2013 and February 2015, it takes 1604 questionnaires to mental health education teachers, cadres and counselors 52 colleges and universities all over the whole nationwide, which receive 1587 effective copies of the questionnaire. Then it has 103 formatting inverviews with problems and development of mental health education. On the basis of investigation, it analyzes the problems of mental health education in five issues. Firstly, it is complex work management system. Secondly, it is not enough to combine with the ideological and political education. Thirdly, it is the lack of standardized teaching arrangements. Forthly,teachers are not professional. Meanwhile, the use of Marxist contradiction analysis, it sums up the cause of problems in mental health education. It is lack of scientific recognition of the importance of mental health education. It is lack of organic unity in teaching, tutorship and research. The content system of mental health education is not yet perfectly. The implementation of mental health education has different levels in different regions and universities. The training of the team is not effective.The chapter 5 discusses the stratege of enhancement in mental health education. In the new historical period and the face of new issues of mental health education, it must use the Marxist theory, combine the actual of society in Chinese, and integrate the need of mental health in order to improve the psychological quality of college students. First of all, it must take the scientific theory as a guide, take the Marxist theory on humancomprehensive development, concept of scientific development, a harmonious society theory as guides, the view of innovative talent. Secondly, it must enrich the content system of mental health education. It must add the education of social adaptation in prosperous society and interpersonal education, learning metacognitive and comprehensive education, the education of potential development, social responsibility and a sense of belonging vocational education. Thirdly, it must improve methods of mental health education. It must use the information technology teaching methods, learn excellent methods from Western countries, use the research methods in education, and combine the methods of Mental Health Education and Ideological and Political Education. Forthly, it must take strengthen the training of teachers in mental health education. It must take positive complement of teachers, improve the overall quality of teachers, improve the training system of mental health education teachers, and improve the working conditions of teachers. Finally, it must improve the environment of mental health education, including the social environment, school environment and the classroom environment.
