A Study Of The Changes And Developments Of China’s External Sports Relationships After The Reform And Open-up

The3^rd Plenary Session of the11^th Congress of the Chinese Communist Partymarched the magnificent historical journey for China, with emancipated ideology, toreform and open up to the outside so as to keep up with the pace of the worlddevelopment. Ever since the implementation of reform and open-up, China, in the pastthree decades, has made unprecedented remarkable achievements in politics, economy,science and technology, culture, education and all other social fields. The eye-catchingachievements in the world made in China’s sports are, to a great extent, a miniature ofChina’s developments in all social construction causes and also a representativeexample from being negligible to exerting deep influence on the world. Certainly, theachievements made in China’s sports are closely related to the changes anddevelopments of China’s external sports relationships, which, in certain aspect, decideChina’s sports achievements.The changes and developments of China’s external sports relationships arecertainly important academic research themes and topics, but unfortunately only fewresearches are available, and the academic researches from the perspective of ahistorical approach on the subject matter are even fewer. Fixed in the contextualbackground of China’s far-reaching reform and open-up, the study applies suchapproaches as document survey, historical exploration and logical analysis to study theinfluences of the rapid changes of the international situations on the developments ofChina’s external sports relationships. Based on the exploration into important sportsevents and figures, the study aims to form a tentative historical research achievement bysorting out systematically the relationships between China and IOC, international sportsevent organizations, regional international sports organizations, and the bilateral sports exchanges with other countriesThe basic historical survey of the subject matter indicates that China’seye-catching achievements in the world made in sports after the reform and open-up areclosely related to the changes and developments of China’s external sports relationships.The study also reveals that the reform and open-up are the driving forces, the worldchanges are historical opportunities, and the efforts made by China’s sports itself are thefundamental causes for the changes and developments of China’s external sportsrelationships.
