Democracy is one of the hallmarks of human civilization and a landmark issue inthe process of a harmonious society. Improving the quality of all citizens’ democraticawareness has a very important strategic significance on the development of socialistdemocratic politics and the establishment of socialist political civilization. Being thefuture builders and successors of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics, collegestudents are continuing momentum of social development and a significant group in theprocess of advancing the construction of socialist democratic politics which can not beignored. Whether the level of democratic quality of college students could be improvedor not, relates to the stable development of China’s economic environment and theconstant social improvement and progress. For the moment, the democratic heart of thecollege student shows a more liberal accepting status, but lacking in the ability ofdemocracy and without the action to accept and fulfill democratization. College studentorganizations are beneficial to school education, if necessary, an important carrier andspiritual home for college students playing an irreplaceable advantage in improvement ofstudents’ democratic quality. With the development of democratic construction of collegestudent organizations, more and more attention has been paid to the maintenance ofstudents’ democratic rights. By strengthening democratic construction of studentorganizations and building a democratic living environment, members in theorganizations may get access to experience of democratic life, thus practical significancefor the exercise and for the improvement of contemporary college students’ democraticquality and ability can be achieved.The integrated use of questionnaire method, document analysis, induction,comparative study enables the systematical study in democratic construction of collegestudent organizations in China. The paper reviews the course of the student organizationsin China, and puts forward the content and objectives of democratic construction ofstudent organizations; the paper sums up the positive results and existing problems ofdemocratic construction of college student organizations in Liaoning province through acombination of authentic first-hand questionnaires and individual interviews; the paperintroduces mechanisms and content of democratic construction of college student organizations then focuses on how to strengthen and improve path of democraticconstruction of student organizations with suggestions; the paper introduces the structure,operation, power mode and condition of democratic construction of foreign studentorganizations and summarizes revelation to democratic construction of studentorganizations in China. To sum up, the author further stresses the significance ofdemocratic construction of college student organizations to the cultivation of studentdemocratic quality, hoping the practice of democracy on campus may civilize collegestudents to understand the democratic norms and rules, to accept faith in democracy, todevelop habits of democracy and to grow into their own values.In short, the necessity and significance of democratic construction of studentorganizations is indisputable, but few discuss it as a theoretical issue and to a large extent,the pioneering work is still a theory and practice. Therefore, the author tries to comb itstheoretical base and describe the experience through first-hand information conducted bysurveys, seeking to figure out reference and operative measures from the students’perspective. However, the paper has not yet fully developed on some problems and someof the views and analysis are still inadequate, pending further study.
