Research On The Contemporary Construction Of Chinese National Spirit

Chinese national spirit is the core ideological commitment and value criterion accumulated and formed by the Chinese nation in the long course of history. As a form of social consciousness, Chinese national spirit is not only relatively stable, but also constantly generating and developing. The furtherance of globalization, the economic and social transformation and its profound impact on social change, along with the great practice in the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics have constituted the historical context for Chinese national spirit. Constructing the Chinese national spirit that meets the demand of historical development and hence developing it into new form to fulfill people’s spiritual world is an important and urgent task in today’s society. It is of great significance in grasping the laws of ideological development, constructing the spiritual home for Chinese nation,practicing socialist core value as well as promoting ideological and political education to further the theoretical study of Chinese national spirit.This thesis takes Marxism as the theoretical basis in accordance with the practicality of China’s socialist modernizing construction. It theoretically probes into the basic connotation, realistic condition and strategic significance of contemporary construction.Detailed contents and realization route of the construction will be emphasized. It also finds the value destination for the construction and therefore shapes the theoretical logic of contemporary construction of Chinese national spirit.This thesis firstly studies the historical formation and development, basic connotation and characteristics of Chinese national spirit.it illustrates that Chinese national spirit is the unity of nationality and truth as well as unity of history and modernity which provides the argument basis for the further construction and development of national spirit. Secondly, it discusses the theoretical condition and realistic condition of Chinese national spirit in the context of globalization and China’s modernization. It shows that the construction of Chinese national spirit becomes a spiritual resource for globalization and provides oriental wisdom to facilitate the search for reason and intelligence. It also proposes that Chinese national spirit is faced withtransformation and development in the process of China’s modernization. Thirdly, it studies the strategic significance of contemporary construction of Chinese national spirit.It deepens the understanding of the theme in the aspects of promoting national identity,enhancing national confidence, elevating individual spiritual world and contributing intelligence to world peace and development and thus confirms its inner value. Then it lays emphasis on the contents of contemporary construction of Chinese national spirit,stressing that in order to inherit the excellent traditional culture more prominence should be given to the patriotic tradition, unity of collectivism and individual freedom and moral-valuing tradition; in order to cultivate the spirit of new age more prominence should be given to the spirit of reform and innovation, democratic spirit and scientific spirit. It proposes to condense Chinese national spirit into socialist core value and therefore finds a value destination for contemporary construction of Chinese national spirit. Lastly, it discusses the route to realize the construction of Chinese national spirit,illustrating and summarizing it from the three perspectives of material basis, institutional basis and idealistic basis.
