The dissertation selects the earliest academies as object, working with the files and archives, to narrate the transition of Chinese painting’s education from traditional method to modern academy. The Chinese painting’s approach to academy in early 20 th century was to be thought as a definite process, in which some interested problems related to Chinese paintings’ initiative were ignored. The dissertation regards the approach to academy of Chinese painting as a passive progress from its beginning of 20 th century, which changed the original education method of Chinese painting, at the same time, loaded traditional Chinese painting with unbearable culture burden. This dissertation does not to get an enclosed conclusion but to set a possible turning point under the background of a whole new times and a whole new national culture context, with the reconsidering of the files and archives of Chinese early modern times. Standing by the turning point, Chinese artists could unload their culture burden and face the Chinese national renaissance with cultural confidence.
