Animation is an integrated art combining a number of manifestations:The associated elements of literature, fine arts, music, opera and film etc. are incorporated in animation and associated there-with in a distinctive fashion. Chinese animation was highly praised in the field of animation all over the world thanks to the positive effect of diversified artistic vocabulary thereon.By giving serious consideration to the development background and realistic context of Chinese animation as well as the relation between Chinese animation and relevant arts, this paper is prepared to reveal the evolution of relevant art forms in different stages with the development of Chinese animation as a time reference following the train of thought "literature review-history tracing-classified research-work analysis-scientific analysis-theory explication & conclusion" so as to expound the staged evolution rule of relevant arts in the historical context of Chinese animation.Structurally, this paper makes classified analysis of the relation of Chinese animation with literature, fine arts, opera, film and music etc. in respect of intrinsic correlation, vocabulary borrowing and national cultural heritage etc., studies the logicality of intrinsic correlation of relevant arts with animation, interprets the context inheritance of traditional culture, and discriminates the significance of relevant artistic reference for Chinese animation.Based on the study on the relation between animation and relevant arts, the author takes further cognizance of the relation of animation, as an integrated discipline, with relevant arts disciplines. In view of animation’s comprehensiveness and integrity, the disciplinary positioning of animation has been in chaos. Finally, this paper demonstrates the rationality of disciplinary position of animation in the Catalog of Undergraduate Majors in Regular Institutions of Higher Learning issued in China in 2012 with the study on relation between animation and relevant arts as a theoretical footing based on the analysis of commonality and individuality between animation and other relevant arts disciplines, as well as our traditional cognition of the disciplinary category of animation.
