Recording And Timing On The Behaviors Of Abstract Art

This thesis investigates the reconstruction of ‘figurative language and symbol and ’abstract image and space’ through the digital video records of the process of abstract art performances. Also, it investigates not only the result orientated representation of the abstract art performance, but also the relationship between the audience and the performance through the continuity of the records and the period in the process of creation.To explore this, video records and editing were chosen for the method of experimentation, and the analysis of psychology and figurative language was thoroughly investigated centrally exploring the ‘esthetics of relationships’.In a world of editing surrounded by myriad of information and network, now a days’ individuals make creative world and interprets it by their own styles of editing. Inspired by this, experimentation that shares and communicates meta language through the editing was investigated.In representing the essence of paintings and the process of art performance, humans’ repetitive cause and effect behaviors of the instinctive expressions, subconscious behaviors and esthetic appreciation recollections through humans’ play instinct and acting were mainly investigated. In addition to this, the communication and the meaning of unstable human relationship were explored.Modern art’s mainstream change and the conception of East art were divided into the great modern artists‘ four subjects of work: the modern people’s identity and the matter of the others, the live or die instinct, the matter of existence and communication, and the difference between repetitive numbers and imitation. Four subjects were accordingly investigated mainly concentrating on Lee Woo Hwan’s beauty of space.The abstract art performance practice and the investigation of the digital video records were arranged in the order of four pre-mentioned investigation subjects, the process and the result. The technical and environmental problems in representing pure painting spirit and its veracity were depicted separately.This essay also explores the art participation and art therapy of the audience, from the perspectives of Gestalt psychology and Esthetic psychology, suggesting the application plan for the abstract art performance and video records.
